A Look Back At John Carpenter's "They Live"

They Live Anyone who knows me knows that I'm a big pro-wrestling fan and as a result I've watched some terrible films over the years just because they feature a wrestler, John Carpenter's They Live most certainly does not fall into this category. Roddy Piper is the pro wrestler in this film and although he may not be the best actor in the world but he oozes charisma that he is able to transfer from the ring to film in a way most other wrestlers have been unable to do. John Carpenter knew exactly what the Hotrod's skills were and allowed him to help choreograph his fight scene with Keith David and to add his own dialogue which is how the infamous line “I came here to chew bubblegum and kick ass... and I'm all out of bubblegum” came about. Whilst re-watching They Live 25 years after it's initial release I was amazed at how well the themes in the movie stand up in 2013. The main backbone of the story revolves around the social divide between the haves and

UK film studio Pinewood Shepperton has announced plans to build its first sound stages in the United States. The Pinewood Atlanta complex will be built on 288 acres of land south of Atlanta, Georgia, as a joint venture with a US investment company. Georgia has been among the US states drawing film-making away from Hollywood with tax incentives in recent years. The deal is the latest sign of expansion at Pinewood, the home of the James Bond franchise. Earlier this month it announced a joint venture with a Chinese media group, potentially giving it access to the fast-growing Chinese market. Read the full article here. J.J. Abrams Revealing Interview On Playboy - A Must Read

Playboy mag have published an interview with J.J. Abrams and it is a must read.  In the interview the Star Trek Into Darkness and Star Wars VII director opens up and mentions his feelings on being in the main chair for two of the biggest franchises in movie history. "I couldn’t even entertain another thought. It was like being on the most beautiful beach in the world and someone saying, “There’s this amazing mountain over here. Come take a look.” I couldn’t balance the two, so I passed on Star Wars. "I was near the light at the end of the tunnel with my work on Star Trek," continues Abrams. "I felt I needed a bit of a breather, actually. But then Kathleen Kennedy called again. I’ve known her for years. We had a great conversation, and the idea of working with her on this suddenly went from being theoretical and easy to deny to being a real, tangible, thrilling possibility. In the end it was my wife, Katie, who said if it was something that really interested

Star Trek's Alice Eve Reveals How She Fell Over First Day On Set

Alice Eve In Star Trek Into Darkness. Over on E! Online Alice Eve of Star Trek Into Darkness recalls how she fell on her bum on the first day of shooting and how Zachary Quinto laughed the loudest. "I ran onto the Enterprise and I fell over on my bum—on my first take!   It was one of those things that occurs, and it will never happen again. I was red, and I guess I had to laugh. It was that much of an embarrassment." "[Zachary] Quinto was mean, though.   He laughed the loudest, which I'll never forgive him f or," she said with a smile. "I have my clumsy moments. I probably do do it on all movie sets. JJ Abrams commented on Alice's mishaps saying: "There were a number of times that Alice Eve ran onto the set and fell on her ass," Abrams said. "But here's the thing, she always got up again for take two." Read the full article here THE BEARDED TRIO ON FACEBOOK THE BEARDED TRIO ON TWITTER THE BEARDED TRIO ON GO

Here we go. You're stuck in a swamp on Dagobah.  What one movie, TV show, album and book would you take? Movie: Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith TV show: The West Wing Album: I’m not really into music. I’ll go with the Revenge of the Sith soundtrack. If you could invite any three people (alive or not, fictitious or not) to a dinner party, who would they be? Jon Stewart, Stephen Colbert, and Neil deGrasse Tyson. ForceCast Special Part 1: Quick Fire Questions With Erik Blythe

This week on our Quick Fire Questions we have a Forcecast special. Erik Blythe AND Eric Geller were kind enough to answer our questions so we thought we would bring you both their replies in the same week. First up is Erik Blythe who rejoined the Forcecast in January this year. Erik was the original host of The Forcecast way back in 2005. Erik also runs another podcast called RandomChatter . You're stuck in a swamp on Dagobah.  What one movie, TV show, album, and book would you take? Wow.  Aside from the obvious things like a book on "How to Survive Swamps on Dagobah," right?  That's tough.  At the risk of offending people for picking non-Star Wars content, I'd say I'd pick  Doctor Who  (the current reboot, not the old stuff) for television and the three-disc  Blade Runner  soundtrack as an album (sorry Mr. Williams).  For a book, I'd cheat and bring  The Essential Reader's Companion  by Pablo Hidalgo, as it's basically all th

Lets not take anything away from Hans Zimmer.  He's got a huge task on his hands scoring the new Superman movie.  Even Zimmer himself has recently admitted that he is under huge pressure to score a soundtrack that is very much associated with John Williams.  Many fans are questioning the wisdom of not using the maestro's familiar Superman score in some way in the new movie.  As a result and inevitably someone has remixed the latest trailer for Man Of Steel with the much loved Superman soundtrack from John Williams. Take a look. What do you think?  Just to keep if fair and balanced here is a video with just Hans Zimmer's score taken from the trailer. <iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/CjwgkP4xX_Q?rel=0" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> THE BEARDED TRIO ON FACEBOOK THE BEARDED TRIO ON TWITTER THE BEARDED TRIO ON GOOGLE+
