THE POST: A TIMELESS TALE OF FREEDOM. A Guest Post By Kevin De La Cruz

Kevin De La Cruz Takes A Closer Look At Steven Spielberg's The Post Over the last 5 to 8 years, the films directed by Steven Spielberg have shown his growth not only as a filmmaker, but mostly as a storyteller. He has matured for the most of it as seen in War Horse (2011), Lincoln (2012), and Bridge of Spies (2015) although he has retained his childlike wonder for films such as The Adventures of Tintin (2011), The BFG (2016), and recently Ready Player One (2018). As an avid fan of Spielberg this kind of sudden change for more serious filmmaking was something I wasn’t very fond of. I wanted the old Spielberg, more blockbusters which equalled more fun. But fun not always comes from blockbusters, it can also come from a serious drama about freedom of speech and fight against injustice. I’m talking about The Post (2017). A film that when I saw it at the theater it kind of lost me along the way because I found it slow paced and uninteresting. I even fell asleep in one portion of th...

I don't often look back' Spielberg said.  His recent movies such as Lincoln and The Post were made by Spielberg because he wanted to make them.  Spielberg sa...

John Williams Hints Star Wars IX Will Be His Last

On the latest episode of ' KUSC Interviews ' Jim Svejda interviews John Williams to discuss his amazing work and his most recent work on Star Wars: The Last Jedi and The Post.  He did hint that Episode IX will be his last for the Star Wars franchise. “We know J.J. Abrams is preparing Star Wars: Episode IX now, that I will hopefully do next year for him. I look forward to it. It will round out a series of nine. That will be quite enough for me."  He also revealed that they recorded a total of 184 minutes of music for The Last Jedi and the movie came in at 2 hours 32 minutes so I wonder if we'll ever get to hear that unreleased music?  I suspect we will. Williams talks about Carrie Fisher's performance in The Last Jedi and believes her performance in the movie was one of her best. "A great loss.  She was a very witty girl and brilliant in her writing and quick entertaining manner that she would have.  We were really unfortunate to lose her but also lu...

VIDEO - Steven Spielberg Looks Back: Do His Old Movies Look Old?

A lot has changed since Steven Spielberg started his moviemaking career so many years ago. With computers (and their talented programmers) now able to create almost any kind of special effect imaginable, it's easy to overlook how ground-breaking some of Spielberg's pre-CGI films were. Granted, some of them -- even though they were state-of-the-art at the time -- look downright old-fashioned today, but some have stood the test of time very well. We talked to Spielberg and asked which of his film's effects have held up the best. Spielberg’s latest masterpiece, The Post, stars Tom Hanks and Meryl Streep, and it's in theaters now.
