SPIELBERG AND FAMILY RAISES $200,000 FOR CROSSROADS FOUNDER'S INNER-CITY CHARITY

An event on Wednesday saw celebrities, Steven Spielberg and family raise over $250,000 for the Coalition for Engaged Education. When your parent support group includes Steven Spielberg and his family, it's likely that your fundraisers will be something special. A Wednesday event for Crossroads founder Paul Cummins and his nonprofit, the Coalition for Engaged Education, was exactly that. The aim was to raise $100,000 for Cummins' efforts, which include a summer school program in the city of Lennox to assist 20 teenagers who have been identified as "highly likely to drop out" of high school. With donations still being counted on Thursday, the Spielbergs had raised $200,000. The finally tally is expected to reach $250,000. It's no wonder, considering the A-list crowd that turned out for the gathering, termed the First Annual Poetic Justice Celebration. Supporters included Gwyneth Paltrow, Maya Rudolph, Jonah Hill, Henry Winkler and son Max Winkler, Sally Fi...

Empire Strikes Back Major Reveal Would Have Not Been Kept Secret If Internet Was Around - GEORGE LUCAS

In the latest edition of Empire Magazine George Lucas explains how it would have been impossible to have kept the bomb shell at the end of The Empire Strikes Back a secret if the Internet had been around. Lucas thinks the famous (retro spoiler ahead) father/son scene was one of the last "real reveals" "No. It was pretty remarkable we pulled it off then," he answered Empire when asked if he thinks it would have been possible now.  "It was without the internet but it was still extremely intense in terms of the fans. Literally, I didn't tell anybody. Even the producer didn't know. It wasn't until James Earl Jones [Darth Vader's voice] came on during the finishing of the movie that it was revealed what he was actually saying there."  "We expected it to leak but it didn't. It made it through the sound mix where the group widened. Then, everybody came out of the first screening and said, 'He's his father!' ...

Mayor Of San Francisco May Offer Site Near Bay Bridge For Lucas Cultural Arts Museum

The battle for who gets the Lucas Cultural Arts Museum is an epic one.  The battle seems to between Chicago and San Francisco and it's the latter that has revealed it's latest weapon.  A prime spot near the bay bridge, which was near the original proposal the museum failed to get a few months back.   San Francisco Mayor Ed Lee plans to officially offer George Lucas a prime lot near the Bay Bridge as the site for a museum to house the "Star Wars" creator's collection of illustrative art and Hollywood memorabilia. "It's the best site we could find both in terms of location and for winning the needed approvals in a timely fashion," said one source close to the talks. Known as Seawall Lot 330, the site is across the Embarcadero from Piers 30-32, where just a month ago the Golden State Warriors were planning to build their 18,000-seat arena. The team is now looking at Mission Bay, having concluded that the political hurdles of the waterfront sit...

Colin Trevorrow Confirms Recent Plot Rumours

In a recent article over at JoBlo they revealed some of the plot of the upcoming 2015 release, Jurassic World.  The article told us that there will be new dinosaurs never seen before and made from dino DNA splicing. Normally this kind of plot leakage gets denied but in a refreshing change, director Colin Trevorrow has confirmed these rumours in a recent interview with /Film Will there be crossbred dinosaurs or new species created for the movie? We were hoping audiences could discover this on their own, but yes, there will be one new dinosaur created by the park’s geneticists. The gaps in her sequence were filled with DNA from other species, much like the genome in the first film was completed with frog DNA. This creation exists to fulfill a corporate mandate—they want something bigger, louder, with more teeth. And that’s what they get. I know the idea of a modified dinosaur put a lot of fans on red alert, and I understand it. But we aren’t doing anything here that Cricht...

Colin Trevorrow Tweets Jurassic World Isla Nublar Veterinary Services Patch. That's Some Vet!

This picture was tweeted a few hours ago by Jurassic World director, Colin Trevorrow.  It shows a sleeve patch and it says "Isla Nublar Veterinary Services.  Jurassic World."  Well, considering there are going to be dinosaurs of all kind on the island, how do you train as a vet for these particular circumstances?  A bit different to your neighbours cat having hair balls. There were no words accompanying the tweet and this was his first tweet since March.  Obviously busy filming the movie.
