A little Bearded Trio history for you.

The Documentary That Led To The Bearded Trio The documentary The Beginning: The Making of Star Wars Episode I is more than just a behind‑the‑scenes look at The Phantom Menace — it’s the reason this page and our website exist at all. I’ve been a fan of Spielberg, Lucas and Williams since the 70s. Their films, their music, and especially the behind‑the‑scenes magic have always grabbed me. This documentary is one of the best windows into filmmaking I’ve ever seen. No commentary, no narration — just the feeling that you’re standing in the room with the incredible people who brought the film to life. I first watched it around the time The Phantom Menace came out, but when I revisited it in 2009 something clicked. It sparked the urge to create a place that celebrated the work of these three legends. A way to say thank you for the decades of movie magic they’ve given us. That spark became The Bearded Trio. So yes — this documentary is partly responsible for everything we’ve built here togethe...

Happy New Year From The Bearded Trio - Inspirational Quotes From George Lucas and Steven Spielberg

Happy New Year From The Bearded Trio From everyone here at The Bearded Trio we would like to wish you all a Happy New Year.  A lot will be thankful that 2020 is finally at an end.  We hope 2021 is the best year yet for all of you.  Don't be yourself, be a better person than the year before.  As Steven Spielberg puts it: "All of us every single year, we're a different person. I don't think we're the same person all our lives." Don't be put off by negative people around you and their lost hope.  Be positive and think of the good things in life and hopefully it will reflect on to those who have lost a little bit of that sparkle.  Again quoting Steven Spielberg: “I've always been very hopeful which I guess isn't strange coming from me. I don't want to call myself an optimist. I want to say that I've always been full of hope. I've never lost that. I have a lot of hope for this country and for the entire world." Don't sto...

My Top Ten Steven Spielberg Movies - Rob Wainfur

Steven Spielberg Movies That Make My Top Ten This website, The Bearded Trio started way back in 2009 and during that time I have never done my personal top 10 Steven Spielberg movies.  I thought it would be too hard to do but I recently asked on our Facebook page if you would be interested in knowing my Spielberg favourites and as a result I've been convinced to do the list. So here it is, it's not in order* (that would be way too hard to do) and I've decided to leave out Schindler's List as the movie carries a powerful and important message and I believe it deserves to stay out of a silly top ten list like this.  It's Spielberg's most important movie but I wanted to give you my top ten movies that I keep coming back to.  You know the ones, you've had a hard day at work and just want to put on what I call a "movie comfort blanket." *That not in order bit?  Well it's a little bit in order.  What I mean is the top five are always fightin...

This Star Wars Documentary Is The Reason The Bearded Trio Exists

Here's something you may not know. It was thanks to the documentary, "In the Beginning" that this page and our site, The Bearded Trio exists. I've been a fan of Spielberg, Lucas and Williams since the 70's and my passion for the three has never dwindled. Getting a behind the scenes look at any of the three has always grabbed my attention. I love their movies, music and especially the behind the scenes magic. The documentary below is an amazing window into how a movie is made and in particular, Star Wars Episode 1: The Phantom Menace. There's no commentary but instead you really do feel like you are right there in the room with the various talents we see. I watched this documentary around the time when The Phantom Menace came out in the bite size snippets that were released on the web but again in full in 2009. It was watching it again that, for some reason sparked an urge in me to want to create a website to celebrate their work. A way to say thank you...

The Bearded Trio - An Update. The Reason I've Distanced Myself

The reason for my absence  Last month, I made the hard decision to shut down The Bearded Trio website and walk away from all blogging duties.  Well, we're still here...Sort of.  We obviously haven't closed down but you may have noticed that the posts have reduced.  We no longer post daily but instead it's a case of if and when.  I was convinced to keep the site going for reference, after all there is almost ten years of material to look back on.  Some of it, I hope you will find useful and interesting.  Also, we still have the excellent Brother Gibbs doing their movie reviews and I'll even post from time to time. Actually, I've been enjoying the break away from the everyday maintenance of the site and been focusing more on our sister site, Geek Universal which I strongly suggest you check out (Nice plug there.) Now, some people have contacted me and asked why I decided to walk away and up to now I've kept it quiet.  The reason I kept it u...

What Does The New Beardless George Mean For The Bearded Trio?

This week we've had hundreds , dozens , a few emails informing us about George Lucas and his new look.  "Did you see GL without a beard?"  "What you going to call yourself now?" "Is this the end for your site?  Please let it be the end."  Okay, we made that last one up. These emails were provoked by his latest appearance at the premiere of the Marvel movie, Black Panther in New York.  Along with his wife, Mellody Hobson they both looked well but there was something different about George.  He had no beard! Are we going to change the name of the site?  Well, no.  It's still going to be the same name.  We're really not about beards (even though we get emails asking us to promote razors and men's beauty products.) We celebrate the work of John Williams, George Lucas and Steven Spielberg.  Not just their current work but their classic work from years gone by.  You think Spielberg and I bet you have a classic image of him with a b...

The Bearded Trio Celebrates Five Year Anniversary. Check Out Our Highlights

Today The Bearded Trio celebrates it's fifth year on the internet.  I just want to say thank you to all the contributors and especially our visitors and loyal readers over these five years.  The website goes from strength to strength with more and more visitors checking us out. I started the site back in April 2009 as I wanted to celebrate my fandom for Steven Spielberg, George Lucas and John Williams.  My aim was to post an article every day and I don't think a day has been missed since.  The website has steadily seen it's visitor count grow month by month and with the joining of a Twitter, Facebook, Google+ and a Pinterest page has seen it grow even more.  Now dipping toes into the podcast avenue thanks to Coffee With Kenobi, the site is going from strength to strength.  With Lisa Dullard, Dan Zehr, Cory Clubb, Rebecca Benjamin, Paul Baghurst, Chris Hewer and Rachel Wainfur all contributing to the content which in turn has seen The Bearded Trio beco...
