I take a look back at one of my all time favourites, Close Encounters of the Third Kind. Rob Wainfur There are three movies that are always in my mind when someone asks me what my all time favourite movies are.  Jaws is always there along with Raiders of the Lost Ark and of course Close Encounters of the Third Kind. Like Jaws this is a perfect Spielberg film with some of the most iconic scenes in cinema history.  Classic Spielberg directing, an incredible John Williams soundtrack and a cast who nail every scene make this easily one of my all time favourite movies.  As a Spielberg fan it has two of my favourite scenes from the director.  The first time Roy witnesses the UFOs in his van.  In particular there is one simple shot around 19m 55s in where you see a van moving across a road at night with trees silhouetted by the starry night sky.  A slow moving UFO moves across the screen.  I love this shot and for me this is a classic Spielberg shot. E.T. II Nocturnal Fears was written by Spielberg and E.T. writer Melissa Mathison.  The sequel that never was, was going to, more or less pick up straight away from the end of the first movie and with one distinct feature.  The E.T's are evil. "The aliens on-board are EVIL. They have landed on Earth in response to distress signals designating its present coordinates. These aliens are searching for a stranded extraterrestrial named Zrek (E.T.), who is sending a call for 'Help.' The evil creatures are carnivorous. Their leader, Korel, commands his crew to disperse into the forest to acquire food. As the squat aliens leave the gangplank, each one emits a hypnotic hum which has a paralyzing effect on the surrounding wildlife. These creatures are an albino fraction (mutation) of the same civilization E.T. belongs to. The two separate groups have been at war for decades!" Star  Wars Movieviewer from Kenner This was from Kenner and it was called the MovieViewer.  It had a cartridge in the camera and a white handle that you turned while looking through the view finder.  While turning you were treated to a few minutes of edited Star Wars.  It was best used underneath a light as this would enhance the brightness of the grainy picture. Well as luck has it, I have one of these toys in my collection.  I've taken a few photos and uploaded a video to give you an idea of what you see.  The cassette I have is called May the Force be with you  There were five in the Star Wars series.  The other four are Destroy Death Star, Battle in hyperspace, Cantina Scenes and Assault on Death Star.
