Check Out These Polish Posters For Steven Spielberg Movies

Polish movie posters have a huge fan base from movie fans thanks mainly to their unique interpretation of famous movies.  Most of these movies were released during the communist-era so the artists of the communist run countries had to take on their own interpretation of the movie that would make it pleasing to the authorities of the time.  What we get is a huge range of original poster artwork for some of the most famous movies of all time. Over the next two days The Bearded Trio will bring you some of the best Polish movie posters relating to Steven Spielberg and George Lucas.  Today we're going to run with a Steven Spielberg theme. 1941 Back to the Future Empire of the Sun Gremlins Temple of Doom InnerSpace Jaws Poltergeist Raiders of the Lost Ark Raiders of the Lost Ark Raiders of the Lost Ark Sugarland Express Close Encounters of the Third Kind....Yes really! The other John Williams

Back in 1979, this piece of music confused me a lot.  It accompanied a film, The Deer Hunter , I watched over and over again because of the great acting of Christopher Walken, Rober DeNiro, John Cazale and Meryl Streep (plus the rest of the cast of course). but the thing that puzzled me the most was the fact that although the composer of this piece of (great) music bore the same name as the one who had scored Jaws and Close Encounters , he was a totally different person. (a similar thing happened a few years later when the film Mad Max was released and I found out that the music had been composed by Brian May, not the Brian May of Queen (of course), but again, that also took some time for me to find out) Nowadays all it takes is checking on Google, but in those (prehistoric) days we mostly relied on encyclopedia and they didn't always have stills in them, so it took a while, but in the end I found out there can be more than one. Here is a live version by (that ot

Harrison Ford Heads To Steven Spielberg's House After Leaving Hospital.

Harrison Ford Heads To The Spielbergs After Hospital Stay It seems one of the first places Harrison Ford visited after leaving hospital yesterday was the home of his pal, Steven Spielberg. An eyewitness told E! News that the Ford was driving around the Pacific Palisades before arriving at Steven Spielberg's house! "Harrison was driving his Tesla and seemed to be in good spirits. He was wearing a hat so there weren't any visible signs of wounds on his head," the source tells us. "He was by himself but able to drive his car normally...He arrived at Steven Spielberg's house in the late afternoon and went straight through the gate," the eyewitness adds. "He was there for many hours and stayed all through the evening. He went home after 10 p.m." Re ad more over at E! Game of Thrones' Maisie Williams to Appear on Doctor Who

Maisie Williams, well-known to fans of Game of Thrones fans as Arya Stark, will be joining the crew of the TARDIS when she guest stars on an upcoming episode of Doctor Who . "I'm so excited to be working on Doctor Who as it's such a big and important part of British Culture. I can't wait to meet the cast and crew and start filming, especially as we'll be shooting not too far from my home town," said Williams. Steven Moffat had this to say about the show's latest guest star: "We're thrilled to have Maisie Williams joining us on Doctor Who. It's not possible to say too much about who or what she's playing, but she is going to challenge the Doctor in very unexpected ways. This time he might just be out of his depth, and we know Maisie is going to give him exactly the right sort of hell." Well, I'm on board! It sounds like she's going to be memorable character. Doctor Who is currently filming series 9, which is set

Another Young Indiana Jones ?

One of the many Indiana Jones Fan-films that can be found on YouTube these days. This one however features a very young cast just as was the case in the early Spielberg films. (And, since I'm Dutch, I love the fact that Indy even uses a bike during one of his chases.) Ronny. Happy Birthday Vangelis

Today we celebrate the 72nd birthday of the Greek Composer and Performer Evangelos Odysseus Papathanassiou, or, as we have come to know him: Vangelis . As a self thought musician, he can't read or write notes, Vangelis has been composing music since the early age of four. Starting of as a performer, who worked almost solely with electronic music instruments, he worked a lot with fellow musician John Anderson. Since the mid 60's he also delivered film-scores for (mostly) Greek films and documentaries. That changed however when he started working on international films at the end of the 70's. In 1981 he won the Academy Award for the music he composed for the British drama Charriots of Fire and this marked his launch as an international wanted composer. In the next few years he delivered the scores for Costa Gavras' gripping drama Missing , followed by Ridley Scott's Blade Runner . Nowadays his main focus lies with documentaries, but

Who (almost) Framed Roger Rabbit ?

Before Richard Williams directed the animation for Who Framed Roger Rabbit ? , there was an earlier attempt at the Disney -Studio's, from 1981 to 1983, to adapt Gary K. Wolf’s book “ Who Censored Roger Rabbit ? ” into a feature. The animation was to be supervised by Darrell Van Citters and Paul Reubens. However, a few years later, when Steven Spielberg's Amblin Entertainment , Robert Zemeckis and animator Richard Williams had entered the production, Roger Rabbit had to do a screen-test, just like all the regular actors... Lucas Museum of Narrative Arts Being Denied To Preserve Parking Lots.

Melissa Harris from ChicagoTribune.com is reporting that the problems George Lucas and his museum dream is getting from local preservationists is over nothing more than parking lots. The great irony is that a litigious group of local preservationists is waging a legal battle to protect parking lots ... from an art museum. Not to mention, it's well-funded by Star Wars creator George Lucas, replete with one of the world's finest collections of Norman Rockwell illustrations, movie posters and cutting-edge digital illustrations and fine art. Friends of the Parks, meanwhile, is living in a land of fairies and other magical creatures. No matter how often or how loudly the group's leaders call for more green space, if this museum isn't built between Soldier Field and the city's convention center, those parking lots are never going to be anything other than they are now: a concrete dock for Bears tailgaters to guzzle beers and grill bratwurst a few Sundays a yea
