Steam Live The Oscars Thanks To Sky Cinema The Oscars are just around the corner, 10th February to be specific but if you want to get in the mood now then thanks to Sky Cinema you can.  A dedicated channel for the Oscars called Sky Cinema Oscars has gone live and will be available until the 14th February.   In the lead up to the big night, Sky Cinema Oscars will also be showcasing a variety of Academy Award-winning titles from years past, including The Favourite, Bohemian Rhapsody, A Star is Born and The Shape of Water, with all titles also available on demand. Not only is there an impressive movie lineup but the 92nd Academy Awards will be live on the channel and streamed live where you will be able to watch all the action from the red carpet 10pm (GMT) on the evening of 9th February, before the awards ceremony itself begins at 1am (GMT) in the early hours of the 10th. 52 Nominations For John Williams The nominations for the 2020 Oscars are out and Joker leads the way with 11 nominations followed by The Irishman, Once Upon A Time In...Hollywood and 1917 all with 10 each.  Star Wars is represented too with the usual categories that a Star Wars movie gets nominated in: Visual Effects, Costume Design, Sound Design and of course Original Score.  It's John Williams last Star Wars score and of course he should have been nominated.  It makes it his 52nd Oscar nomination, extending his lead for most nominated living person.  The 92nd Academy Awards will be held at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood on 9 February. Solo: A Star Wars Story will not be represented in the 'Best Original Score' category at the Oscars due to Disney/Lucasfilm missing the deadline.  Oops! According to Variety , the score from John Powell with themes by John Williams  was struck off the list of nominees after it failed to submit the score by the 15th November.  They say that misery likes company so they can feel slightly better in knowing that another three other movies will not be represented due to the same reason, Green Book, Mandy, and The Other Side of the Wind. First-round voting is underway for the Oscars and over 150 scores are in the mix.  Solo: A Star Wars Story, unfortunately isn't one of them.  Lets hope they get that Grammy that they've been nominated for. T he Oscar nominations are in and Steven Spielberg's The Post has grabbed two nominations, one in the Best Picture category and the other for Meryl Streep in the Best Actress category.  Once again it seems the Academy overlook Steven Spielberg for best director as he misses out on a nomination. John Williams is up for an Oscar for his work on Star Wars: The Last Jedi .  That makes it 51 Oscar nominations for the maestro.  In fact The Last Jedi is sitting pretty with four nominations in total, predictably in best special effects, sound editing, sound mixing and the previously mentioned best score categories. T he nominations for the 89th Academy Awards were announced today and you can check out the full list below.  Notable mentions are Rogue One getting two nominations, one in the Sound Mixing category and the other in Achievement in Visual Effects.  Star Trek Beyond gets a nod in the Achievement in makeup and hair-styling category.  La La Land picks up an impressive 14 nominations including the category of Best motion picture of the year.  The Gibbs brothers of The Bearded Trio voted it one of the best films of 2016 .  Our top movie of 2016, Lion gets 6 nominations including Best Picture and Performance by an actor in a supporting role.
