With the sad news today of the passing of Bob Hoskins, I thought it was only fitting to post some photo's showing his time working with Steven Spielberg on the classic movie, Hook and of course as Eddie Valiant in Who Framed Roger Rabbit. Hook Star Bob Hoskins Dies Age 71 Of Pneumonia

Sad news coming in I'm afraid, as we find out that Bob Hoskins who starred in Steven Spielberg’s Hook and Who Framed Roger Rabbit has died at the age of 71. He was suffering with Pneumonia. The star was nominated for a best actor Oscar in 1987 for crime drama Mona Lisa, in which he starred opposite Sir Michael Caine and Robbie Coltrane. He announced he was retiring from acting in 2012 after being diagnosed with Parkinson's disease. "We are devastated by the loss of our beloved Bob," the actor's wife Linda and children Alex, Sarah, Rosa and Jack said in a statement. "Bob died peacefully at hospital last night surrounded by family, following a bout of pneumonia. We are sorry to hear such sad news at the loss of Bob Hoskins.  Our thoughts are with family members and friends. It's official. It just couldn't wait until May 4th.  The cast for Star Wars VII is finally and officially announced.  It seems the old cast are on board.  But we also get the talented Andy Sirkis who brought us the mesmerizing Gollum performance in The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit. The Star Wars team is thrilled to announce the cast of Star Wars: Episode VII. Actors John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, Andy Serkis, Domhnall Gleeson, and Max von Sydow will join the original stars of the saga, Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill, Anthony Daniels, Peter Mayhew, and Kenny Baker in the new film. Steven Spielberg to Direct Film Adaptation of Roald Dahl's 'The BFG'

It looks like Steven Spielberg has found his next job!  According to the official Roald Dahl website , the director will helm the film adaptation of Dahl's classic children's book, The BFG . Here is the official statement from the website: Renowned film director Steven Spielberg will direct the new adaptation with Melissa Mathison, who last worked with Spielberg on  ET , writing the script. Frank Marshall will produce the film and Michael Siegel and John Madden are on board as executive producers. First published in 1982,  The BFG  tells the tale of a lovable, dream-hunting giant and Sophie, the little girl who first spots him through the window of the orphanage where she lives. It has continued to delight audiences ever since its release, and was one of Roald's own favourites. Steven Spielberg Talks Jaws In 300th Issue Of Empire Magazine. Remembers Orca Being Chopped Up. @empiremagazine

In the latest episode of Empire magazine they celebrate their 300th issue.  Various well known directors contribute to this months superb movie magazine including Steven Spielberg.  In his article the director opens up his "sharkive" to focus on nine objects that help tell his experience of filming his masterpiece, Jaws. Some of the items range from an original shooting script of Spielberg's to a tooth from "Bruce."  For each object Spielberg gives us a little story of his time on set or why that item was chosen for shooting. One of the items in the article is Orca's anchor and the story that goes with it is Spielberg's memory of using the boat that was sitting in the Universal lot after the film had been shot for his "go to" place for anxiety attacks.  Yes really!  Spielberg would periodically come and sit in the boat and not remember the good times filming Jaws but the bad times and how that week could be his last week as a directo
