71 and counting...

Born on this day in 1943 in Scarborough, Yorkshire in England is, Krishna Pandit Bhanji, or as we came to know him actor Ben Kingsley, In 1982 he came to our attention with his Academy Award winning portrayal of Mahatma Ghandi in the film that swept away most of the Oscars that year (and keeping E.T. from winning an important one). However he more than made up for this with his portrayal of Itzhak Stern in Schindler's List in 1993. He was mad Knight Bachelor by Queen Elizabeth II in 2002. Even with a career that has spanned almost 50 years he still keeps himself very busy, with at this moments 10 films or tv-series in various stages of completion. Happy Birthday to you sir (or Knight) Kingsley. Interview With Voice Of Yoda - Frank Oz

With Frank Oz set to appear in the new episode of Star Wars Rebels episode 'Path of the Jedi' here's an interview with the voice of Yoda himself sent to us from Lucasfilm.  We've also included some more pictures from the episode and another clip from the show. Q. What was your initial reaction to Yoda when you viewed the concept sketches for the character in 1979? A. When I saw the first sketches they were different from the Yoda we now know. But still, I sensed who he was right away. That rarely happens, but it happened with him. Q. Do you remember what George Lucas said to you to inspire you to come up with the voice that you chose for Yoda? A. Actually George didn’t ask me to do the voice. I gave him a voice tape early on but I was told he wanted to try other people doing the voice. Over the year or so while post was going on, I would hear that many men were auditioned for Yoda’s voice. But at the last minute, when I was on my honeymoon in Hawaii with my fir...

New Image Of Millennium Falcon With Disney's Bob Iger

Head of Disney has appeared on the cover of Fortune Magazine accompanied in the background by everyone's favourite space ship, the Millennium Falcon. Also inside is a composite shot with Iger stood in front of Han Solo's ship. Fortune magazine had this to say about the image: As for the cover shot, Yannick Dusseault, visual effects art director for The Force Awakens, and his team gave Fortune six options showing the Falcon in different ways. The resulting image required the custom rendering of ILM’s computer generated Falcon. According to ILM, the fabled ship was rendered in wireframe form (a skeletal version) as well as a more layered “textured render,” which were combined in Photoshop to create the final image. JOHN WILLIAMS'S FILM MUSIC Hard to imagine, but until some 6 months ago no book (in the English language that is) had ever been published on the work and career of our very own John Williams, one of THE most renowned film composers in film history and with 49 Academy Award nominations (as of 2014), the most nominated composer and second-most nominated person (after Walt Disney) ever. But fortunately enough, earlier this year, Emilio Audissino ended this void, with the publication of John Williams's Film Music. A study of John's entire career, starting some 20 years before John actually started composing himself (which was in 1954 for a documentary called You are Welcome, as the book states), thus showing where John got his inspiration, all the way to Lincoln, John's most recent collaboration with Steven Spielberg. Audissino has major chapters devoted to Williams's iconic scores for Jaws, Star Wars and Raiders of the Lost Ark, and, of course has a nice up...

Will Clara Oswald Return for Series 9 of Doctor Who?

Possible Clara-related spoilers for those who have not watched the episode "Last Christmas." In the lead up to this year's Doctor Who Christmas special, there was quite a bit of speculation about whether or not Clara Oswald's time in the TARDIS would come to an end. It was already confirmed a few weeks back that Peter Capaldi would be returning for the next series, but Jenna Coleman's status was left unaddressed. Now that the Christmas special has aired, the matter has been settled. According to the BBC , Jenna Coleman will return for series 9 - and not just for a few episodes, but for the entire series. Here is what Coleman had to say about the decision to stay on as Clara: "It's wonderful," she said. "I get a whole other series of stories with the Doctor and I couldn't walk away with the story being unresolved." She added: "There is so much more to do. I think they've finally just reached a point where they real...

6-minute unedited 'Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope' b-roll behind-the-scenes footage (1976)

Here's a rare video showing George Lucas behinf the scenes on the Star Wars set.  There's no audio but this is a rare gem. Thanks for sharing by: JASON EATON (Found via:  http://originaltrilogy.com/forum/ ) Thanks to: Damien Slattery  Unfortunately the original video has no audio! YahooMovies: "A Deleted 'Star Wars' Scene Comes Alive in Rare Behind-the-Scenes Footage" The first half of the (silent) clip shows a 30-something George Lucas conferring with cinematographer Gilbert Taylor before discussing a scene — cut from the final film — in which Mark Hamill (Luke Sykwalker), Garrick Hagon (Biggs Darklighter) and Koo Stark traipse around the Tatooine settlement of Anchorhead.  Though Biggs is glimpsed briefly in 1977’s Star Wars: A New Hope — he’s one of the X-Wing pilots killed in duty during the attack on the first Death Star — his original role was noticeably bigger: A scene cut from early in the film portrayed him and Luke as best pals, with Biggs servi...

Best of Star Wars Music Christmas Lights Show 2014 - Featured on Great Christmas Light Fight!

Christmas lights set in time to the classic Star Wars theme and others by John Williams.  Here's what the creator has to say about this wonderful spectacle: Here's my tribute to my favorite songs on Star Wars! The neighbors are very supportive especially since I use the display to raise money for the poor and homeless through my church. A lot of people have been asking about how to donate to my church's free dining program online - if that's on your heart, please use this link and God bless! https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr... I sequenced the show using LOR, mixed the music/sound effects with Digital Performer, and filmed it using a 35' lift :) This is now my second year decorating. I built all the props using wood, metal, acrylic and corrugated plastic. I am a music/teacher director for a living (COVA Conservatory in Oakland and Centerville Presbyterian Church in Fremont), hence the massive instruments! If you look closely (especially during the Cantina...
