Steve's Star Wars News Roundup

It's time for Steve's Star Wars news roundup.  This week Steve brings you news from The Last Jedi to the Star Wars Christmas Special.

Super 8 Score: Behind The Scenes with Michael Giacchino, J.J. Abrams and Steven Spielberg

J.J. Abram's Super 8 is kind of a big screen "Stranger Things."  It has a retro feel, centres around kids and a monster terrorising a small town. Steven Spielberg was the executive producer for the movie and Michael Giacchino composed the impressive soundtrack.  Just like Abrams once said, the movie is a tribute to Spielberg's 70's and 80's alien movies, the soundtrack is a tribute to John Williams and Steven Spielberg as said by Giacchino in this video.  You can tell that Giacchino is a huge fan of Spielberg and Williams.  He says in the video: "Standing on the scoring stage with Steven Spielberg recording the music for this movie...that was a pretty nifty moment I have to say." Look out for Michael Giacchino's super 8 movies in the video which obviously was inspired by Steven Spielberg's E.T. The Extra Terrestrial. Track 1 from the soundtrack. John Williams Has Started Recording Star Wars Episode VIII

At this very moment, somewhere at Sony John Williams is recording the music to a brand new Star Wars movie.  That's according to the ScoringSessions Twitter account who report on musical recordings from around the world.  They tweeted on the 13th saying: John Williams starts recording music for STAR WARS: EPISODE VIII at Sony today. The bulk of scoring will be in the spring. — ScoringSessions.com (@scoringsessions) December 13, 2016 Episode VIII is set to be released December 2017 and will be directed by Rian Johnson.  John Williams who brought us the magical Rey's Theme in Star Wars: The Force Awakens will once again bring us his magic for the next installment.  In the mean time Michael Giacchino picked up the baton for this week's release Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.  You can watch the composer during a recording session below: The Bearded Trio - The Site For Steven Spielberg, George Lucas, John Williams and a whole lot more. Listen To Two Tracks From Michael Giacchino's Jurassic World Soundtrack

Jurassic World  hits cinema screens on June 11th but the soundtrack will be available a few days earlier on June the 9th. ZedTV have got their hands on a sample from the soundtrack, two tracks in fact.  The first track is called "As The Jurassic World Turns" and has the familiar John Williams cue around 5 minutes 30 seconds in.  The second title is untitled at this time. I must say I think the soundtrack is going to be a classic.  I love these two tracks and Giacchino has done Williams proud.  The first track has an uplifting feel to it so obviously this will be at the beginning of the movie when all the dinosaurs are behaving themselves.  The second one has a more feel of dread and danger so everything is kicking off by this time in the movie. Take a Peek at the Score for Jurassic World

Director Colin Trevorrow tweeted out a sneak peek at the score for Jurassic World today. The selection is titled 'Welcome to Jurassic World' and is part of the overall score composed by Michael Giacchino. Does anyone read sheet music? Darn my lack of musical prowess... Michael Giacchino To Score Jurassic World. Thumbs Up From The Bearded Trio.

Michael Giacchino will be the composer for Jurassic World.   Deadline broke the news today.  As a site dedicated to John Williams we don't dismiss the talents of other composers and if we're not getting John Williams for Jurassic World then Giacchino is a worthy composer to pick up the baton. Previous work worth mentioning by Michael Giacchino, Super 8, both of the Star Trek's by J.J. Abrams and the compelling and a wonderful masterpiece that is Pixar's Up.  He is also the composer to this year's Wachowki Brothers movie, Jupiter Ascending as well as Dawn of the Planet of the Apes. Jurassic World is set to hit cinemas in June 2015 and is currently shooting with direction by Colin Trevorrow.  The soundtrack is in good hands Here are some of my favourite pieces from Michael Giacchino. J.J. Abrams Wants John Williams To Score Star Wars Episode VII

A sk any Star Wars fan who they would like to see score the soundtrack for the new Star Wars movies and they're likely to say John Williams.  Of course we are among them here at The Bearded Trio. Now it seems our wish is likely to come true, at least for Episode VII.  J.J. Abrams was speaking at a Berlin press conference yesterday for Star Trek Intro Darkness and here's what he had to say: "For Star Wars, it's very early days, but I believe that, going forward, John Williams will be doing that film, because he was there long before I was." That's good news.  If you're a Michael Giacchino fan then fear not.   I still believe that Michael Giacchino will be floating around like a young padawan of John Williams.  With more and more Star Wars movies being announced on the horizon I believe it will be a transition process between Williams and Giacchino.  I wouldn't be surprised if Giacchino scores one of the spin-off movies while Williams tackles...

Michael Giacchino Wants John Williams To Do Star Wars VII

Michael Giacchino speaking at a Q&A session in Switzerland has stated that he wants  John Williams  to write the soundtrack for Star Wars VII. "One of the things that excites me most about 'Star Wars' coming back is chance to hear a John Williams score.   If it were up to me I would say 'John, you must do it.'" In February John Williams said at a concert: "Now we’re hearing of a new set of movies coming in 2015, 2016… so I need to make sure I’m still ready to go in a few years for what I hope would be continued work with George [Lucas]." John Williams is our first choice here at The Bearded Trio (obviously) but Michael Giacchino would be a great choice to continue John's work on Star Wars.  If you're not sure of his work, check out the soundtrack to Super 8 which just happens to be directed by none other than J.J. Abrams. Rob @welshslider THE BEARDED TRIO ON FACEBOOK THE BEARDED TRIO ON TWITTER THE BEARDED TRIO ON GOOGLE+

10 Reasons J.J. Abrams Is Good For Star Wars VII

Its looking likely that JJ Abrams is going to direct Star Wars VII.  Here are ten reasons in my opinion why JJ Abrams is good for Star Wars. Star Trek. I love Star Trek as much as Star Wars but before JJ Abrams brought us the 2009 Star Trek movie the franchise was dying if not dead.  Enterprise had long been cancelled and the last movie, Nemesis was not only a pile of steaming gagh, it also bombed at the box office.  JJ Abrams had a big task on his hand to reboot the franchise.  He not only successfully brought out a movie that pleased Star Trek fans, he also made the movie appeal to a new generation.  No mean task. Fringe The last episode has just aired in the US and UK.  If you missed the boat when it comes to this sci-fi thriller then you have missed quite possibly the best TV since Deep Space 9.  Created by JJ Abrams along with Alex Kurtzman, and Roberto Orci the series boasted some of the most in depth and three dimensional characte...
