Her Magister Set to Give BFG Knightood

Steven Spielberg's new favorite actor closes out 2016 with an even bigger honor than the Oscar he won earlier this years for Bridge of Spies. Varietyreports that Mark Rylance has made Queen Elizabeth's New Year's Honors List, and is to be knighted for his significant contributions to the British theatre.

It seems fitting for the actor who played Spielberg's BFG to recieve this honor from the very Queen he teams with in the film to save the children of England from the threat of the nasty giants, and we congratulate him on the honor. We only hope that when the ceremony comes he leave the Frobscottle at home this time.

Happy New Year From The Bearded Trio - Inspirational quotes from George Lucas and Steven Spielberg.

From everyone here at The Bearded Trio we would like to wish you all a Happy New Year.  I hope 2017 is the best year yet for all of you.  Don't be yourself, be a better person than the year before.  As Steven Spielberg puts it:

"All of us every single year, we're a different person. I don't think we're the same person all our lives."

Don't be put off by negative people around you and their lost hope.  Be positive and think of the good things in life and hopefully it will reflect on to those who have lost a little bit of that sparkle.  Again quoting Steven Spielberg:

“I've always been very hopeful which I guess isn't strange coming from me. I don't want to call myself an optimist. I want to say that I've always been full of hope. I've never lost that. I have a lot of hope for this country and for the entire world."

Don't stop dreaming and believing in those dreams.  Don't be swayed by others who have lost their dreams, hopef…

Carrie Fisher Completed Filming of Star Wars Episode VIII

It's been a week to forget for the Fisher family.  With the untimely passing of Carrie Fisher two days ago and today we learn that her mother, Debbie Reynolds also passed away, our thoughts go to their family during these testing times.

Star Wars fans also feel the loss with Carrie Fisher being their princess for over 40 years.  It seems that fans will get to see her as Leia in Star Wars Episode VIII.  Director Rian Jonhnson wrapped up shooting in July and all scenes with Fisher were completed.  Her role is set to be bigger than the few scenes we watched in Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

Mark Hamill's Tribute To Carrie Fisher

Mark Hamill has left this moving tribute to Carrie Fisher who passed away yesterday age 60:

"It's never easy to lose such a vital, irreplaceable member of the family, but this is downright heartbreaking. Carrie was one-of-a-kind who belonged to us all- whether she liked it or not. She was OUR Princess, damn it, & the actress who played her blurred into one gorgeous, fiercely independent & ferociously funny, take-charge woman who took our collective breath away. Determined & tough, but with a vulnerability that made you root for her & want her to succeed & be happy. She played such a crucial role in my professional & personal life, & both would have been far emptier without her. I am grateful for the laughter, the wisdom, the kindness & even the bratty, self-indulgent crap my beloved space-twin gave me through the years. Thanks Carrie. I love you, mh"

Movie Review: "Lion" is an Extraordinary Story Beautifully Told

LION

Based on the book "A Long Way Home" by Saroo Brierly
Screenplay by Luke Davies
Directed by Garth Davis

It's almost a shame to write a review for this movie, because it's such an amazing story and so unforgettable that the ideal way to view it is to go in knowing as little as possible. But it's the kind of movie that we love to champion and encourage people not to miss.  So, if that is enough to talk you into giving the movie a chance, stop reading right now and just go see the film today.

For the rest of you: Lion tells the true story of a Saroo, a five-year old Indian boy in 1986, who livesin poverty, but relative happiness, with a  loving family. His mother works in construction, barely making enough for the family to survive, so Saroo and his older brother Guddu take to begging for food and money at the railway station, and Guddu is even…

Movie Review: "Fences" Is Powerful and Superbly Acted

Adapting a stage play for the big screen is a greater challenge than it may seem. Film is inherently a more visual medium than the stage, and at times what takes several minutes of dialogue to say in a play may be better expressed on film through a single image. However, one of the greatest strengths of a great work from either medium is the performances of top quality actors, and Denzel Washington's interpretation of August Wilson's 1985 Pulitzer Prize winner Fences has that part down. Washington has chosen to do very little to "open up" the play for the screen, instead showcasing Wilson's text and a superb cast (himself included) to deliver powerful drama that sometimes feels more like a filmed stage production than a cinematic experience, but is compelling and …

Carrie Fisher's Heart Attack. Reactions From The Star Wars Community

Carrie Fisher has had a major heart attack and went into cardiac arrest minutes before the end of the London to LA flight that she was on.

Her brother Todd said she was in intensive care in Los Angeles:

"If everyone could just pray for her that would be good," he told Entertainment Tonight. "The doctors are doing their thing and we don't want to bug them. We are waiting by patiently."

Fisher had been on tour promoting her latest book, The Princess Diarist.  A medic who was travelling on the plane administered CPR.  Paramedics then spent a further 15 minutes administering more CPR to Fisher before getting a pulse, TMZ reported.
