Interview - Author James Kahn Talks About The Time He Met Steven Spielberg

A few weeks back I was lucky enough to catch up with author and composer James Kahn while at a local comic con.  James novelized Star Wars Episode VI:  Return of the Jedi , Poltergeist ,  Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom and The Goonies to name a few.  He's met Steven Spielberg and George Lucas and I just had to get an interview for The Bearded Trio.  Here's what James had to say: You've novelized many blockbusters during your career. Which one gave you the greatest challenge? Probably Poltergeist.  I had a one month deadline to write it and I wanted to incorporate a lot of new material that came from my own experiences, and weren’t in the movie.  I had to write 15 hours a day for 29 days.     Was there a movie you wish you could have novelized? Yes, I was asked to novelize Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade , but I was head writer on a TV show by then – Family Medical Center – and had to turn down the novelization due to time constraints.  Would love to hav

Film Concerts Live! To Perform John Williams Classics All Over The World

If, like me you're a fan of soundtracks then you may have been lucky enough to have listened to your favourite piece being played live by a professional orchestra.  The live experience of hearing and feeling the emotion being generated while the soundtrack plays is something everyone should have the opportunity of experiencing. Thanks to FILM CONCERTS LIVE! that experience is possible.  Not only do they play some of the finest soundtracks in movie history but they perform while the movie plays on a big screen.  You may have seen this already on one of the extras on the E.T. DVD a few years back. FILM CONCERTS LIVE! is a co-venture of IMG Artists and the Gorfaine/Schwartz Agency which if you're a John Williams fan will know they have close ties with the composer.  It's no wonder then that three of the films they are currently performing their magic to are actually John Williams soundtracks.   Home Alone , Raiders of the Lost Ark and the previously mentioned E.T.

VIDEO: 9 Things You (Probably) Didn't Know About 'Back to the Future!'

It's hard to believe that 30 years after its release, there are still some things one can learn about Back to the Future and its sequels.  CineFix has uncovered nine things you may not have known about these classic films. Sure, a few of them you probably already knew -- but I'll bet there are a few you didn't. For example, I missed #6 entirely -- and #7, who knew?! ( A little bit of adult language ahead, just so you know. ) Thank goodness for #9. Seriously! Fans make a Jurassic World fan movie.

Check out this rather impressive fan film based on Jurassic World.  The special effects are impressive and better than some of those SyFy channel movies I've unfortunately watched.  Here's what the talented Jurassic World fans had to say: This is a no-budget fan film made by 4 guys. We filmed it in one day and I did all the post production on my home computer in 3 weeks. It was a super fun project! Actors: Mustafa A. Kuzu and Halit Dajdzo. Music: Black Vortex, The Hive, Volatile Reaction- Kevin MacLeod (incompetech.com) The Bearded Trio - The Site For Steven Spielberg, George Lucas and John Williams THE BEARDED TRIO ON FACEBOOK THE BEARDED TRIO ON TWITTER THE BEARDED TRIO ON GOOGLE+ THE BEARDED TRIO ON PINTEREST CLICK HERE FOR FACTS ON STEVEN SPIELBERG CLICK HERE FOR FACTS ON GEORGE LUCAS CLICK HERE FOR FACTS ON JOHN WILLIAMS

Practical Effects that didn't go very well.

There has been a lot of discussion on the use of CGI instead of Practical Effects in recent films, where the use of Practical Effects is usually rated better (or more realistic) compared to the results with CGI. Not claiming to choose on either side, I love this small compilation of Practical Effects gone wrong, or at least, didn't work the way they were intended to (and especially the number 1 on the list). Have fun watching it, and try not to take everything too serious. Ronny.
