After Four Years Development Reassured...Again For Halo TV Series.

Halo TV series.  Those three words have been doing the rounds for at least four and a half years now with Steven Spielberg's involvement a certainty.  Well the series is definitely still on, allegedly.  TV Guide at the Television Critics Association winter press tour, asked Showtime bosses whether we're still getting a live-action television series based on one of the biggest video game franchises.  "[It's] still in very active development," Showtime President and CEO David Nevins said. Nevins wouldn't comment further, but he did say he's seen scripts. His answer was bugging me.  It sounded familiar somehow so I decided to look back through The Bearded Trio archives and found the following stories relating to the Halo TV series. 21st May 2013 - Spielberg announced at the launch of the XBox One he is involved in a Halo TV project. 18th Aug 2015 - The TV series is still in development.  "It's still in development," David Nevins to...

Halo TV Series With Steven Spielberg Involvement Isn't Dead

Cast your mind back to 2013 for just a minute.  Remember that Microsoft XBox One conference where they were talking more about TV than the games?  And do you remember that big announcement of a Halo TV series?  They even had a video message from Steven Spielberg announcing his involvement in the project. Well since then we've not heard much about the TV series.  The closure of XBox Entertainment Studios didn't help.  However 343 Studios have continued to keep the Halo dream alive.  The good folks over at AR12Gaming.Com reached out to Microsoft and got a somewhat positive response: “Progress on the Halo Television Series continues,” a Microsoft Spokesperson and representative of 343 Industries confirmed to AR12Gaming. “We want to ensure we’re doing this the right way together with a team of creative partners (Steven Spielberg and Showtime) that can help us build the best Halo series that fans expect and deserve. We have no further details to share at...

Spielberg produced Halo live action TV series Is "Still in very active development."

Remember that Halo TV series that Microsoft triumphantly announced while unveiling the Xbox One in 2013?  Even a video of Steven Spielberg was played.  Remember what he said? “I wish I could be there with you today in person, but like all of you here today I’ve been playing games for decades. I even started playing Pong in 1974. And over the years that experience has exploded from the simple pixels of Pong to worlds that are as immersive as, and certainly more physically interactive than those portrayed on the silver screen. And those stories have gotten more compelling as technology has certainly improved. “So for me, the Halo universe is an amazing opportunity to be at that intersection where technology and myth-making meet, to produce something really groundbreaking. I’m incredibly excited about the great journey we are all on, the heroes, worlds, and wonders that Halo will take us on.” Well since then news has been slow and even non-existent.  After productio...

Bungie 'fires' Halo games composer Marty O'Donnell

As a gamer myself I will never forget the first time I played Halo on the original Xbox.  Everything was perfect.  The graphics, gameplay, sound effects and especially the music.  The iconic theme tume to the game series has found it's place in gaming history and is instantly recognisable to any gamer. Now it seems the composer has been fired from Halo creators, Bungie. BBC Write: The composer of the original Halo soundtracks says he has been fired from his job at the video games' creator. Marty O'Donnell revealed the news in a tweet: "I'm saddened to say that Bungie's board of directors terminated me without cause on April 11, 2014." Bungie has confirmed the move but suggested they remained "friends". Mr O'Donnell had been working on music for the firm's forthcoming title Destiny in collaboration with Sir Paul McCartney. The news prompted a backlash from visitors to Bungie's site. "Bungie just lost half of its magic,...
