The Bearded Trio

Tony Award-winning actor Mark Rylance has been cast as the giant in Steven Spielberg's adaptation of the classic children's book by Roald Dahl,  The BFG .  Rylance is currently working with Spielberg on the Cold War drama St. James Place . Of the casting, Spielberg had this to say: “As I witnessed on stage, Mark Rylance is a transformational actor,” said  Spielberg.  “I am excited and thrilled that Mark will be making this journey with us to Giant Country. Everything about his career so far is about making the courageous choice and I’m honored he has chosen ‘The BFG’ as his next big screen performance.” The BFG  is expected to being filming early in 2015, and it has a U.S. release date of July 1, 2016. It looks like Steven Spielberg has found his next job!  According to the official Roald Dahl website , the director will helm the film adaptation of Dahl's classic children's book, The BFG . Here is the official statement from the website: Renowned film director Steven Spielberg will direct the new adaptation with Melissa Mathison, who last worked with Spielberg on  ET , writing the script. Frank Marshall will produce the film and Michael Siegel and John Madden are on board as executive producers. First published in 1982,  The BFG  tells the tale of a lovable, dream-hunting giant and Sophie, the little girl who first spots him through the window of the orphanage where she lives. It has continued to delight audiences ever since its release, and was one of Roald's own favourites.
