SAD NEWS: Sir Sean Connery Dies Age 90

Sad news as we learn that Sir Sean Connery has died at the age of 90.  He died overnight in his sleep while in the Bahamas. Fans of Steven Spielberg movies will best know him for playing Indiana Jones' Dad in Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade and has stayed as a fan favourite since the movie was released in 1989.  Other roles that he became well known for was The Hunt for Red October and of course as James Bond.  He won an Oscar in 1988 for his role in The Untouchables, playing an Irish cop. Robert Carlyle tweeted: "RIP Sir Sean Connery.. a trailblazer, a true legend and a gentleman." First Minister of Scotland Nicola Sturgeon also said: "I was heartbroken to learn this morning of the passing of Sir Sean Connery. Our nation today mourns one of her best loved sons. Sean was born into a working class Edinburgh family and through talent & sheer hard work, became an international film icon and one of the world's most accomplished actors." Variety tells us:

New Images From Uncharted Movie. Will It Rival Indiana Jones?

Tom Holland To Take On Role As Nathan Drake In Uncharted I love the Uncharted games on the PlayStation.  I played them all from the original to Uncharted 4 and the remastered versions too.  They have that Indiana Jones feel to them which of course they are heavily influenced from.   Nathan Drake is the Indiana Jones of the Uncharted games and while most of us knew a movie was inevitable, we all thought that Nathan Fillion would be the ultimate choice to play Drake.  As it turns out, that role has gone to Tom Holland and today we can share with you a few images from the upcoming movie that will also star Mark Walberg who will play Drake's side-kick, Sully.  There are no images of Walberg as Sully yet but we do get to see the shirt he'll be wearing which resembles his attire in the videogames. It's not Indiana Jones 5 but at least we are getting an adventure movie and if they are based on the games then we are in for a lot of excitement and adventure.  Finding a decent videog

George Lucas Thanks Les Dilley For His Work Even For "How Crazy I Act Sometimes" At BAFTA Wales Awards

Les Dilley Gets Outstanding Contribution Award At BAFTA WALES. On Sunday, production designer and art director Leslie (Les) Dilley received the Outstanding Contribution Award , one of the highest accolades BAFTA can award at the British Academy Cymru Awards.  It was streamed live online and Alex Jones (not that one) was the host. Les Dilley was born in the Rhondda, Wales and has worked on some of the most iconic movies such as Star Wars: A New Hope, Empire Strikes Back, Raiders of the Lost Ark and Alien to name but a few. James Cameron started off the compliments explaining how he had the pleasure of working with Les in 1988 on The Abyss  and how it was a "horrifically challenging film for a number of reasons and we always that felt we were in such great hands from the design, from the sense of functionality of this deep ocean  underwater drilling rig to the execution of it, Les was able to build sets that were so real, feeling to us as the crew and to the audience when they saw

Remembering The Star Wars Arcade Clone, 3D Starstrike

3D Starstrike For The Sinclair Spectrum Was A Blast If you grew up in the 1980s, lived in the UK and loved video games then you were most likely to have owned a Commodore 64 or a Sinclair Spectrum 48K.    For me it was the Spectrum.    This little black box sporting blue rubber keys was my first computer and I was blown away by the number of games available.    Flight sims, strategy games, platform games and many other games were all available to stop me from doing my homework and instead offering to take me into a world of endless possibilities. So why am I talking about a retro British computer on a  Star Wars  website?    Well, back in 1984 I was still on a high from  Return of the Jedi .    I was twelve years old and my bedroom walls were covered with Star Wars posters thanks to the official monthly poster magazine I had subscribed to.    I couldn’t get enough  Star Wars .    My Kenner figures and vehicles helped with that craving but the Spectrum 48K would take my imagi

Does Spielberg ever wear sweatpants? A look at hero worship.

Following on from my recent series of Spielberg Top 10 blogs , I have decided to write some pieces on perceptions and pre-conceived ideas that the general public have on people in the spotlight, from hero worship to hatred. Is it rational to not watch a film just because Jack Black is in it, or do you wear your rose tinted glasses when ever news breaks of a new Julia Roberts film? Does it go further than that, where does fantasy and reality end? Before I go any further, I am not a Psychologist and everything that follows will be merely my opinion . Secondly, I have not really ever met any famous people, I met Benedict Wong (Wong in Dr Strange) at Em-Con last year, he was a decent bloke, from Salford no less....I'm sure he kept the photo. I certainly don't know any famous people personally so my opinion of any of them is based purely on their public persona or the impressions I have built up on them through their work or interviews etc. Now take my friend Benedict for example.

Back to the Future: The Ultimate Visual History Gets A Revised and Expanded Edition.

"Mr. McFly! Mr. McFly, this just arrived. Oh, hi, Marty. I think it's your new book."   It's better than that!  It's a REVISED and EXPANDED edition of the excellent BACK TO THE FUTURE: THE ULTIMATE VISUAL HISTORY.   I own the original version of this book and believe me this book needs to be in your collection whether you love the Back to the Future movies, a Steven Spielberg fan or just a movie buff.  It is, in my opinion the most detailed book on Back to the Future I've ever read with behind-the-scenes info that has never been seen anywhere before.  With an expanded edition of the book I don't think there will ever be a more definitive look at the Robert Zemeckis directed movies. Author, Michael Klastorin obviously doesn't care about "screwing up future events or the space-time continuum" because the book time-line has been re-written.  This edition is bigger covering more Back to the Future goodness such as the IDW comics, Back to the Futu
