The 59th Grammy Awards will take place on February 12th and there is a battle of the soundtracks heating up in the Best Score Soundtrack For Visual Media category.  Of course John Williams is in the mix with Star Wars: The Force Awakens.  If he wins then it will be the 23rd time he has stepped up to except a Grammy. Steven Spielberg's new favorite actor closes out 2016 with an even bigger honor than the Oscar he won earlier this years for Bridge of Spies.  Variety   reports that Mark Rylance has made Queen Elizabeth's New Year's Honors List, and is to be knighted for his significant contributions to the British theatre. It seems fitting for the actor who played Spielberg's BFG to recieve this honor from the very Queen he teams with in the film to save the children of England from the threat of the nasty giants, and we congratulate him on the honor. Steven Spielberg’s most recent film, Bridge of Spies , opens with an image borrowed from another great American artist. Spielberg’s camera winds through the rundown New York apartment of Soviet spy Rudolf Abel (Mark Rylance). He’s sat in silence, painting a picture of himself to indulge his artistic hobby. He’s flanked by two items: on his left, a mirror where he can see himself reflected; on his right, the canvas, on which he paints what he sees. It’s a clear nod to Norman Rockwell and his famous painting ‘ Triple Self-Portrait ’, a humorous, gently self-effacing piece that also touches on themes of identity (note how different the illustration is to the mirror reflection) and nationality (spot the American eagle on top of the mirror). By drawing on the image of one of America’s most beloved artists (indeed one of its foremost chroniclers of what it means to be American), Spielberg introduces these issues (as well as a pervasive sense of paranoia) for the rest of Bridge of Spie...

Buena Vista Home Entertainment will release on Blu-ray Steven Spielberg's latest film Bridge of Spies (2015), starring Tom Hanks, Alan Alda, Mark Rylance, and Billy Magnussen. Tom Hanks appeared on the Graham Norton show yesterday sporting his new style of bleached white hair and moustache.  He was promoting his latest movie, Steven Spielberg's 'Bridge Of Spies.'  He was joined by the latest Doctor Who, Peter Capaldi and comedy star and author, David Walliams.  During the show Hanks talks about Toy Story 4 and becoming Forrest Gump.  Here's a few videos showing the interview.
