I was able to wander through Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge for the first time on August 28 and September 3. In my last post I wrote about my general impressions of the land. Here, I will go into detail about my experiences on Millennium Falcon: Smuggler's Run and Rise of the Resistance. Rise has gained quite a reputation in its short life as a vexing attraction. The ride experiences frequent breakdowns, and infamously, was recently and literally struck by lightning . RISE OF THE RESISTANCE First off, here's how you get your spot in the virtual queue: Get into Disney's Hollywood Studios by 10 a.m., or "rope drop." Be sure you are inside the park entrance by this time. Have the My Disney Experience app open on your phone. Scroll down a bit on the app to find the Rise of Resistance section. Something good had to happen in 2020, right? This year has been an unimaginable challenge for so many of us. But a bright spot emerged for me last week when I was fortunate enough to make a week-long trip to Walt Disney World in Orlando for an overdue but welcome vacation. The highlight of that vacation was my first-ever visit to Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge. I'll be going over the details of my trip in two parts. Today's first part takes a general approach to what I discovered in my first impressions of the land. Part two, publishing later this week, looks at Galaxy's Edge, and Disney through the prism of COVID, an unavoidable aspect of this particular trip for my wife and I. One of the ongoing projects I'll be following here is the construction of the forthcoming Star Wars hotel, named the Halycon, or Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser. The hotel is being built on the south end of Disney's Hollywood Studios in Orlando, Florida. Like most everything that was in progress in society, construction on the site was halted due to COVID-19 in March. As shown in the photo above, taken earlier this year, progress on the Halcyon was moving along nicely before the shutdown. According to the Orlando Business Journal and The Dis , permits have been filed with Orange County to resume "the fabrication and installation of sets," on something called Project H, which is presumed to be the Disney code word for the Halcyon. The Halcyon had been advertised to open in 2021, though any change on an opening date due to COVID-19, has not yet been announced. The Halcyon is intended to be directly accessible via the back end of Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge. ...

Take A Ride With The Resistance At Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge Strap yourself in and take a ride on the awesome  Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance ride from Galaxy's Edge.  You ride with a re-programmed R5 astromech droid and be prepared to see Kylo Ren, a Probe Droid and even an At-At that fires at you.  Bek narrates throughout who is voiced by James Arnold Taylor.  The video has some rather interesting behind-the-scenes facts on the ride.  Unfortunately someone decided these would be best right in the middle of the screen obscuring some of the action going on.  Fear not, for although this is an official video we have also included an 18-minute video that a helpful fan recorded on their camera and it's POV too complete with the crowd ambience.  Enjoy!
