Why Is There A Strange Cut In The 1982 Horror Classic, Poltergeist? If you're a fan of the 1982 Horror classic, Poltergeist then you will be very familiar with that "weird" cut in the movie.  It's 32 minutes and 47 seconds in to the movie and the scene is where Diane is explaining the strange phenomenon that is happening in the kitchen.  First, she shows to Steve a chair scraping across the floor all on its own then she does the same with Carol Anne.  Steve leans up against the kitchen wall and is completely shocked at what just happened.  It's at this point Diane starts to explain the sensation of being pulled and then...A very abrupt cut.  One moment we are listening to Diane and suddenly it cuts to Diane and Steve at their next door neighbours door.  Why the sudden cut?  It's on the VHS, DVD, Blu-Ray and even the streaming versions.  Why does this awful and weird cut exist in the movie, Poltergeist?  Watch the clip below to see the cut...

If like me you watched Poltergeist in the 1980's then you're most likely a hater of clowns and scary looking trees outside your bedroom.  But with all that, Poltergeist is still one of the best haunted house horror movies ever made and I think it's fitting to post a few photos and behind the scenes from this classic movie on Halloween. Sad news as we learn that Tobe Hooper, the director of Texas Chainsaw Massacre and Poltergeist has died at the age of 74.  He died Saturday in Sherman Oaks, Calif., according to the Los Angeles County Coroner.  At this time we don't know the cause of death. Poltergeist was released in 1982 and was written and produced by Steven Spielberg with Tobe Hooper credited for directing the movie.  The movie is regarded as a classic in the Horror genre and totally scared me as a kid.  There are no clowns in my house thanks to that movie. He also directed the what we called here in the UK a "video nasty" back in the 70's, Texas Chainsaw Massacre.  It cost only $300,000 to make and told the graphic story of Leatherface.  The movie was banned in several countries but it made a huge amount of money due to word of mouth.  As a kid I remember this "X" rated movie "had to be seen" was the word in school. His last film, the 2013 “Djinn,” was set in the Unit...

Steven Spielberg and Richard Edlund, ready to scare us. With the premiere of the new Poltergeist just around the corner, I thought it would be nice to take a behind the scenes look at the 1982 version.  No CGI-effects, just plain old models and matte-paintings, but with enough power to scare the living daylights out of everyone,  Just look at that smile on Spielberg's face... especially when Steven Spielberg himself decided to give a 'helping hand' with the (now infamous) bathroom-sequence.
