71 not out for John Williams Grammy Nominations John Williams is up for another Grammy nomination.  That makes it 71!  71 nominations over 58 years.  Just take that in for a moment.  John Williams is a legend!  Of those 71 nominations he has won a total of 24.  Imagine all those on his mantelpiece? So what are the nominations for?  He's up for two in the composing and arranging field.  “Galaxy’s Edge Symphonic Suite,” written for the new “Star Wars”-themed park at Disneyland, was nominated for best instrumental composition, while his arrangement of “Hedwig’s Theme,” the best-known piece from the “Harry Potter” films, for violinist Anne-Sophie Mutter’s all-Williams album, was cited for best instrumental arrangement.  That's number 70 and 71. John Williams Wins His 23rd Grammy For The Force Awakens

He's done it again.  Well actually this was the 23rd time and at the age of 85.  Yes, John Williams has picked up another Grammy.  The awards were held last night and The CBS network broadcasted the show live from the Staples Center in Los Angeles.  You can see the full list of winners here but the one we're interested in is the Best Score Soundtrack For Visual Media category. John Williams won his 23rd Grammy for Star Wars: The Force Awakens .  He was going up against Thomas Newman who stepped in to replace John Williams for Steven Spielberg's Bridge of Spies ,  Ennio Morricone The Hateful Eight , Alva Noto & Ryuichi Sakamoto's The Revenant and the excellent soundtrack to Stranger Things by Kyle Dixon & Michael Stein.
