Movie Review: "Infinity War" Is Big, Exciting, Intense And Funny . . . But Still Not Very Satisfying

AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR Starring Robert Downey, Jr. Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson, Benedict Cumberbatch, Don Cheadle, Tom Holland, Chadwick Boseman, Paul Bettany,  Elizabeth Olsen, Anthony Mackie, Sebastian Stan, Letitia Wright, Danai Guira, Dave Bautista, Zoe Saldana, Chris Pratt and Josh Brolin Screenplay by Christophe Markus and Stephen McFeely Directed by Anthony and Joe Russo Reviewed by Patrick & Paul Gibb s   Out of Four 10 years ago at this time, we were all talking about Indiana Jones and The Dark Knight. The latter blew everyone away, and the former received mixed reaction (retcon will tell you it was all negative, but a quick look at Rotten Tomatoes disproves that fallacy.). But. But no one expected Iron Man to be the most important film of the summer, much less the beginning of a major reworking of blockbuster film making as a medium. The concept of the marvel cinematic universe changed everything, and the rest of Hollywoo

Indy's Tuesday Thought of the Day

Taking inspiration from Twitter's Tuesday Thoughts, I thought it would be good to get Indiana Jones' thoughts for today. Today's Indy thoughts is on 'Choices.'  Indy has been forced to make many difficult choices throughout his adventures.  Some have been the right ones, others have left him in sticky situations. We also asked Indy about his take on today*: The Bearded Trio -  "So Indy?  What is your thought for today" Indy - "I don't know I'm making this up as I go." Thanks for that Indiana Jones. Have a great Tuesday everyone. *this is not canon The Bearded Trio - The Site For Steven Spielberg, George Lucas, John Williams and a whole lot more.

Ready Player One Has Made Over $500m Worldwide

Ready Player One Hits The Half A Billion Mark It's safe to say Steven Spielberg's Ready Player One is a box office success.  It's now taken over $500 million at the worldwide box office.  The movie based on the excellent novel by Ernest Cline enjoyed a particularly strong showing at the Chinese box office with $61 million alone.  The domestic run (U.S) brought in a whopping $120 million so retro is definitely the in thing across the U.S.A.  The budget for Ready Player One is rumoured to be around the $175 million mark so not a bad return for Warner Bros. The numbers for Ready Player One are set to increase even further with Japan pulling the short straw and having to wait until only last week to get the cinema release arriving at their cinemas. Last week we reported Steven Spielberg being the first ever director to reach $10 billion for the collective box office takings of all his movies over the decades.  Ready Player One has contributed handsomely to that figure.

Movie Review: "Rampage" Is Equal Parts Dumb And Fun

Reviewed by Patrick & Paul Gibbs  Out of Four It's already a big year for us for for sheepish guilty pleasure, with Tomb Raider and Pacific Rim: Uprising, and now, the one and only video game that really holds a special (even sacred) place in our hearts is adapted into a big budget film. When we were teens in the 'early 90's, hanging out at the arcade at the mall playing Rampage was a favorite pastime. The thing we loved most about it was that it was done from the monster's point of view. It's a lot more fun to smash building and eat people than it is to shoot at creatures. The movie faced a big obstacle on this level: Rampage was never about the humans, and nobody wants to root against George, Ralph and Lizzie. How do you get around this?  Director Brad Peyton ( San Andreas ) and the team of screenwriters struggle with the issue, but come close enough to succeeding through enough of the film to make it satisfying to fans.
