He has matured for the most of it as seen in War Horse (2011), Lincoln (2012), and Bridge of Spies (2015) although he has retained his childlike wonder for films such as The Adventures of Tintin (2011), The BFG (2016), and recently Ready Player One (2018). As an avid fan of Spielberg this kind of sudden change for more serious filmmaking was something I wasn’t very fond of. I wanted the old Spielberg, more blockbusters which equalled more fun. Star Wars Music Analysis City in the Clouds - Empire Strikes Back - John Williams - 1980 To this day, my memories of this remarkable cue from The Empire Strikes Back include some of the scratches and miniscule skips that my vinyl record of this film’s soundtrack had when I would listen to it over and over again in my humble bedroom in the early 1980s. City in the Clouds captured my attention and imagination with every listen. Whatever activity I was occupying my 9-year-old self with in suburban Detroit, this track would come up and I would stop, lay back, and allow these ethereal sounds wash over me. This track rarely seems to get mentioned among people’s favorites, which I kind of like. I like that this one feels like “my favorite.” Like, no one else gets to like it but me in the way I do. This 1988 Making Of Doc Is Full Of Retro Charm, Just Like The Movie "In a time of sequels and spin-offs, where many cinemas have numbers after their titles, Willow is one of a kind."  That's how this making of featurette opens from 1988.  Kind of fits today's cinema trend doesn't it?  What they were talking about was Lucasfilm's latest offering, Willow. This is a charming featurette that oozes so much enthusiasm.  George Lucas, Ron Howard and Warwick Davis are so excited for the movie.  The doc has an infectious excitement about it that seemed to be the norm for this style of programme from this era.  It really does pack a punch.  They visit ILM to show how the state of the art special effects were made, the many sets and of course interview the cast to get their take on the story, all mixed with a dramatic soundtrack and gritty narrator (Don LaFontaine.) Argos 1985 Retro Toy Goodness From 80's Argos Catalogues For those who are not familiar with Argos, it is a UK store that is generally situated on the high street and in town/city centres. Here's the thing, even though they have stores, generally nothing is on display. Instead you walk in and order your item from a catalogue, find the item you want in the rather large book, write down the item number and take your ticket to the till. Within a few minutes your item will appear on a conveyor belt from the depths of the store room.
