A Look Back At The Bearded Trio's 2019

Sunset descends on another year and 2019 marked the tenth anniversary of this very site.  2019 saw the site having its best year for traffic and visits and for that I thank you all for taking the time to stop by.  I wanted to share with you what our top five articles, pages and blog posts were of the year along with how many unique visitors we had.  Hope you enjoy the little insight into our website and Happy New Year everyone.  We hope 2020 is the best year yet for you all.

1 - Did Paul Freeman Accidentally Eat A Fly In Raiders of the Lost Ark?
Page Visits For the Year - 16,533
This one has not only been number one for 2019 but for the last few years.  You Google the question above and we come out top.  That's our claim to fame and it's an important question right?

2 - The Front Page
Page Visits For The Year - 13,354
Yes, the front page of The Bearded Trio.  The landing page if you wish.  This is where we list the last seven days of posts along with other links such as an "about me" page and useful links.  There are a few factors not taken into consideration in those numbers but this is based on Google Analytic numbers.

3 - Disney World Braces for Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge
Page Visits For The Year - 5,028
This was a unique look at the much anticipated Star Wars: Galaxy Edge and a wonderful guest post by Brad Monastiere.  Brad was able to take a look at the tourist attraction before it opened, measure up the anticipation with staff and visitors alike and how the preparations were coming together for the opening weekend.

4 - Watch The Crowd's Reaction To Star Wars Episode 1 Trailer At Star Wars Celebration
Page Visits For The Year - 3,755
Bloggers will tell you that sometimes the simplest of posts are the most popular and this is no exception.  It's just a video I found of the crowd reacting to watching Episode One on the big screen at this year's Star Wars Celebration.  The article is just a quick explanation and the video itself but it ended up being the fourth most popular post.

5 - 10 Facts About Steven Spielberg's The Terminal
Page Visits For The Year - 3,586
This is another one that just plods along like the Paul Freeman article.  Again, we feature quite high up for anyone looking to find our information on the Steven Spielberg classic starring Tom Hanks and is a reliable post for traffic.

So there you have it, our top five articles of 2019.  Overall for the year The Bearded Trio was visited by 184,432 unique visitors.  I hope you've found some enjoyment along the way and we look forward to posting more content in 2020.

I just want to clarify that we don't go chasing traffic as this is a fan site and it's just here to celebrate the works of Steven Spielberg, George Lucas and John Williams.

Finally, if you want to help with the site then there are a number of ways you can get involved.  I make no money from the site, well a tiny amount but that goes back into maintaining the site. You can help with that by becoming a Patreon of The Bearded Trio.  That would be a huge help, even if it was the $1 a month tier.  You would be so valued.  Secondly, I am always looking for help in contributing to the site.  Either by becoming an admin so you can post reactive posts such as news etc.  Or, if you prefer you can become a guest blogger.  I absolutely love it when someone contacts me and wishes to write about their favourite Spielberg movie, John Williams soundtrack or Star Wars movie.  You are always welcome and if any of this sounds interesting then you can contact me by email and I'll only be too glad to have a chat.

I hope you enjoyed this little insight into the years traffic and The Bearded Trio website.  It just leaves me to say Thank you for being here and I wish you a very happy New Year!

Did Paul Freeman Accidentally Eat A Fly In Raiders of the Lost Ark?

The Famous Indiana Jones Fly In Belloq's Mouth Scene.  Did It Really Happen? I've always wondered if Paul Freeman unintentionally consumed a fly in this scene in  Raiders of the Lost Ark ?  It's the scene where Indiana Jones shouts down to Bellosh...I mean Belloq and threatens to blow up the ark.  Did a fly go in his mouth? I remember watching this scene back in the early eighties and my ten year old mind thought he definitely had a snack while filming.  I recall talking about 'flygate' in my school playground at the time and the general consensus with my friends was that Freeman definitely had a sneaky snack. Paul Freeman talks about the famous 'fly' scene in an interview with TheIndyExperience.com  and settled 'flygate:' This is a bit of a dicey question so don’t get too upset. (Laughs) A movie’s always got bloopers in it, some have a lot, and some only have three or four. And the most remarkable blooper was right before the opening of th

Explaining That "Weird" Cut In Poltergeist. Read The Missing Scene

Why Is There A Strange Cut In The 1982 Horror Classic, Poltergeist? If you're a fan of the 1982 Horror classic, Poltergeist then you will be very familiar with that "weird" cut in the movie.  It's 32 minutes and 47 seconds in to the movie and the scene is where Diane is explaining the strange phenomenon that is happening in the kitchen.  First, she shows to Steve a chair scraping across the floor all on its own then she does the same with Carol Anne.  Steve leans up against the kitchen wall and is completely shocked at what just happened.  It's at this point Diane starts to explain the sensation of being pulled and then...A very abrupt cut.  One moment we are listening to Diane and suddenly it cuts to Diane and Steve at their next door neighbours door.  Why the sudden cut?  It's on the VHS, DVD, Blu-Ray and even the streaming versions.  Why does this awful and weird cut exist in the movie, Poltergeist?  Watch the clip below to see the cut: Well, the ans
