Star Trek Wars Launches Second Kickstarter Campaign With New Rewards

The folks who brought us the excellent "Steven Spielberg and the Return to Film School" video are lending their vast talents to bring two of my favourite franchises together, Star Wars and Star Trek.  It's called Star Trek Wars and it's another short movie where as they say, "no other fan has gone before."  Here's the film synopsis:

"After 40 years, George Lucas has retired from Star Wars but is having difficulty letting go. Meanwhile, Star Trek director J.J. Abrams, is cracking under the pressure of carrying on the legacy of Star Wars VII. As the rivalry builds between these moguls of space film history, the battle of Star Trek vs Star Wars will finally be decided once and for all."

Now the first part of their Kickstarter campaign got them enough money to film the movie in April and May over six days.  The project saw them collaborate with 150 filmmakers, actors, and artists.  They've also gone as far as to film the project in glorious 4…

Throwback Thursday: The Goonies.

Even after turning 30 last month The Goonies just doesn't age at all.
Just take a look at this trailer, it just makes you want to watch the film all over (again and) again. Glad it's almost weekend.

FIRST Star Wars ROGUE ONE fan movie poster by Ryan Crain

Take a look at this impressive fan art from Ryan Crain. A touching poster for the upcoming Star Wars: Rogue One.
The artist tells us from his MoviePilot page:
Well today is the day that I get to reveal the first poster in a new series Mark Edwards and I have created. "ROGUE ONE" is the first Star Wars stand alone film Disney has announced. Mark and I thought it would be really cool to try and be the first one's to come out with a "Rogue One" movie poster, and as far as I can tell we have completed that mission. I have seen a drawing or two but nothing like this, so that is pretty exciting.

Indiana Jones, Chipmunk-style

Going through my old VHS collection, I recently stumbled upon a few tapes I recorded from TV, somewhere in the early nineties of a couple of episodes of Alvin and the Chipmunks.

Most of us are familiar with the CGI version of Alvin's little friends, the Chipmunks.
In the eighties Alvin had to save his adopted Chipmunks (almost) every week in an animated series, that ran from 1983 to 1990.

In it's 8th and final season the Chipmunks spoofed various big Hollywoodfilms (Back to the Future, Gremlins, King Kong, Star Trek, Batman and RoboCop, to name just a few).

However, the episode that is of interest today, is the 5th one in this (final) series, it's one with a groovy title: Daytona Jones and the Pearl of Wisdom.

I haven't been able to find a DVD version of the entire series, (or at least season 8), but thank god for YouTube...

Enjoy this little treasure...

Stargate Jogcast - "Children of the Gods." Listen To Our Latest Show.

The lastest episode of Stargate Jogcast is out and features me talking Stargate SG-1 with fellow Stargate fan, Adam P O'Brien.  In this episode we talk about the first ever episode, ' Children of the Gods.'  We take a deep look at the episode, reveal some behind the scenes trivia and there's a couple of impressions in there too.  Here's the show notes:

Hi there Jogcasters, as we come back from hiatus we have our first monthly show leading into August: Stargate Jogcast: Children of the Gods. It is a look back at the first episode of the epic show SG1.

Rob Wainfur and I sit back and talk at length about the original episode, we look at trivia, and the events leading up to the series. We pull apart what worked and what didn’t, some of this trivia you may know, some you may not.

We also go through what we would change, and cut into the film etc. This is based on the new cut of the episode: THE FINAL CUT. It was done a few years ago, and makes the episode more film lik…
