Tim Curry To Voice Chancellor Palpatine On The Clone Wars

Bryan Young over at The Huffington Post has had the green light from Lucasfilm to announce that Tim Curry of Congo (stop eating my sesame cake), IT and Rocky Horror Picture Show will be joining the cast of The Clone Wars as Chancellor Palpatine no less.

With the passing of the most excellent Ian Abercrombie the voice of the chancellor had to be filled.  Dave Filoni on the role:

We had an extensive search to find a new voice for Palpatine. It wasn't just a matter of finding an actor who could to recreate lines from the films. We needed someone to deliver a performance that could stand alongside what Ian McDiarmid and Ian Abercrombie created as this legendary Star Wars character. At the end of the day, there is little question that bringing in an actor of Tim's caliber was perfect for Chancellor Palpatine.

Head over to Brian's article to read the full and detailed article.  Great read.

Well this is also good news isn't it for The Clone Wars.  This more or less guarantees…

Steven Spielberg to head Cannes film festival jury

Steven Spielberg will head the jury at the 2013 Cannes Film Festival, slated for May 15-26, organizers have announced. In announcing Spielberg's selection, festival President Gilles Jacob said the 66-year-old American director is a "Cannes 'regular'," noting that several of his 27 films, including "Sugarland Express" and "The Color Purple," screened at the festival. "Sugarland" won the best screenplay award at the festival in 1974. But it was with "E.T." -- which screened at the festival in 1982, "that ties were made of the type you never forget," Jacob said. "Ever since, I’ve often asked Steven to be jury president, but he’s always been shooting a film," Jacob said in a statement. "So when this year I was told 'E.T., phone home,' I understood and immediately replied: 'At last!' " Said Spielberg: “The memory of my first Cannes Film Festival, nearly 31 years ago with the debut of…

Thanks to TheRaider.net for bringing this one to our attention.

Mike Reeping has created this fantastic animated take on Raiders Of The Lost Ark.  The feel of the animation has a distinct Monkey Island and South Park feel about it.  It really is top quality and worth watching.

Who's Going To The Rio Carnival Celebration On The Holodeck?

I was watching Season two of Star Trek The Next Generation (The Emissary) on the Sci-fiScy-fy Syfy channel in glorious HD tonight and realised for the first time you can easily read the text on the LCAR displays.  In one scene the female Klingon K'ehleyr asks the computer to list holodeck simulations.  The picture above is what was listed.  Now my question is, which member of the crew would be using the holodeck to be soaking up the atmosphere of the Rio carnival?

Who do you think?  I'm placing money on Worf.

Is An Announcement Imminent For The Clone Wars?

So as I write this there has been no official announcement regarding season six of Star Wars The Clone Wars.  We all know that Disney bought Lucasfilm late last year and as a result we all expected The Clone Wars to jump ship from The Cartoon Network to Disney.  When The Cartoon Network last month published their TV line up for the following year The Clone Wars was missing from that line up.  I expected Disney to chip in and say they were showing season six on one of their channels but so far we've had nothing.  Yesterday I asked someone at Disney Online if they could give any information regarding the show and sadly was met with very little information. What was said was:

"Unfortunately, we do not have information on future programs until they are officially announced."Now you can accuse me of clutching at straws here but that last bit intrigued me. "...until they are officially announced." Does that mean that an announcement is imminent regarding The Clone …

Here's the full description on episode XI Brian Truitt, Entertainment Writer for USA Today, joins Mike, Bryan, Consetta, and Travis to discuss his love of Star Wars, his career as a geek journalist, and how he almost became a professional musician. Mark Wahlberg Turned Down Star Trek Because He Didn't Understand Script

In a recent interview with Total Film, Mark Wahlberg reveals he turned down a role in the 2009 Star Trek directed by J.J. Abrams.

Apparently, J.J. Abrams offered Wahlberg the role of Captain Kirk’s dad (a part that eventually went to Chris Hemsworth) but Wahlberg turned it down.

His reasoning: "I tried to read the script, but I couldn't understand the words or dialogue or anything, and I said, I couldn't do this." He eventually did see the movie and thought Abrams did a great job.

Do you think Wahlberg would have been a good addition to Star Trek or are you still trying to get over The Happening?  Let us know.

Former BioWare member of staff and Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic writer Drew Karpyshyn has shot down any rumours he’s working on the script for a Lucasfilm adaptation of the classic RPG.  The rumour was inittially reported on Ain't It Cool News.

Karpyshyn came forward and quashed these rumours by saying he is NOT working on any such project.

Karpyshyn retired from the games industry in February last year, having worked on Mass Effect, Dragon Age, Baldur’s Gate and jade Empire in addition to the original KOTOR.

Klingons To Appear In Star Trek Into Darkness

The Klingons will make an appearance in "Star Trek Into Darkness"  according to director J.J. Abrams.

Abrams spoke with MTV about the return of the honourable race after they were cut from the 2009 film.  If you haven't seen the three minute scene then you can watch the scene below. Abrams said: "We shot some stuff that had some Klingons in it and we ended up cutting the scene ... it's a deleted scene on the DVD," said Abrams. "But they are back in this one." "They're role in [the 'Star Trek' sequel] is definitely that of adversary, and you'll see how that plays out. But you don't have to know about any pre-existing stories to watch this film." If you have been reading the prequel comic leading up to the events in Star Trek Into Darkness then you will have already encountered a few Klingons.  The comic prequels comics are called Star Trek Countdown To Darkness and has featured a Klingon on one of the covers. Quick Fire Questions With Consetta Parker

This weeks quick fire questions are kindly being answered by Consetta Parker.
Consetta appears on the excellent Full Of Sith podcast along with Tha Mike Pilot and Bryan Young.  Consetta is also founder of, and runs Parker Publicity, where she represents such clients as Clone Wars James Arnold Taylor and Catherine Taber.  As if that wasn't enough, she is also a media consultant for none other than Rancho Obi-Wan.  Talk about keeping busy! With all that going on it was nice of Consetta to spare a few minutes to answer our questions.  So lets fire away.
1 You're stuck in a swamp on Dagobah.  What one movie, TV show, album and book would you take? My initial thought is I’d take The Empire Strikes Back (for landscape references and it’s my favorite Star Wars film), my Buffy DVD’s, The Monkees “listen to the Band” CD boxed set  and my Jedi Journal I’ve been keeping since the fourth grade.

2 If you could invite any three people (alive or not, fictitious or not) to a dinner party, who woul…

J.J. Abrams - "Too Early For Star Wars Talk"

Speaking to BBC Radio 5 Live, J.J. Abrams
had this to say about Star Wars VII:

''It's too early to even talk about it. We're very excited. The thing we're working on is finishing the 'Star Trek Into Darkness' movie which comes out in May.  It's a little bit like being in the middle of lunch and trying to think about what's for dinner.  We're in the middle of 'Star Trek' so to think about 'Star Wars' and the release date, all of that's far less of a concern than making a movie that's worth your time.''

The director for both Star Wars VII and Star Trek added that it was ''incredibly surreal'' to be asked to direct 'Star Wars', but insists it will not affect his work on the 'Star Trek' franchise.  He said:

''They're very distinct and separate entities.''

I respect J.J Abrams for keeping quiet about Star Wars until after May.  It wouldn't be fair on Trek fans.  …
