La-La Land Records Release CLOSE ENCOUNTERS OF THE THIRD KIND: 40th ANNIVERSARY REMASTERED LIMITED EDITION

La-La Land Records, Sony Music and Columbia Pictures present CLOSE ENCOUNTERS OF THE THIRD KIND: 40th ANNIVERSARY REMASTERED LIMITED EDITION, a special 2-CD set featuring a newly restored and remastered presentation of Academy Award-Winning composer John Williams’ (JAWS, STAR WARS, SCHINDLER’S LIST) original motion picture score to the 1977 landmark feature film CLOSE ENCOUNTERS OF THE THIRD KIND, directed by Steven Spielberg and starring Richard Dreyfuss and Teri Garr. Maestro Williams’ score personifies this classic film’s boundless wonder – searching through, and communicating with, the deep expanses of space as it also explores the unknowable mysteries of the human soul. This deluxe 2-CD edition, meticulously produced, mixed and mastered by Mike Matessino, in consultation with the composer and director, was inspired by the discovery that Williams had originally planned the soundtrack as a 75-minute double LP. Disc One of this presentation takes its lead from that initial inten

One Life Saved, the World Entire Saved: Schindler’s List & the Passing of a Survivor of WWII

A ll of us who find or search for this page have something in common: a love of great movies, the joy they bring us and an admiration for the people who have brought amazing ideas to life.  I am a Star Wars enthusiast, and will watch anything by Spielberg when it is available.  Goonies, ET, everything Indy, everything Marty.  All of these fantasies fueled the emerging hopes of my childhood. The fanciful and wonderful movies of my youth that led me to look for the great mysteries of this world.  And then I found a great mystery confronting my sensibilities, my stomach and my own relationship to the world around me.  When I was 18, I came across Schindler’s List.  It was only three weeks after my grandmother died, the matriarch of the family.  I often refer to her as St Granny because of the place her love has had in my life – even after her repose in the Lord.  I don’t remember the occasion, but a lot of the family was gathered together and watched the movie, which was aired withou

Paul Hirsch Recalls His Time Working With George Lucas In Variety Interview

There's an interesting article over at Variety where legendary editor, Paul Hirsch discusses his time working with George Lucas and Brian De Palma. With more than 40 films to his credit, spanning genres from comedy to suspense and sci-fi, Oscar-winning editor Paul Hirsch has much to offer in counsel to younger filmmakers as he visits Camerimage Film Festival for his award for “unique visual sensitivity.” Still, Hirsch has fond memories of working with Lucas at a time when all the smart money said there was no future in sci-fi and the director was comfortably outside the Hollywood machine, based in his studio in Northern California. “It’s counter to the narrative of Hollywood being this terrible, backbiting, competitive Hobbesian world. In fact my career’s been marked by extraordinary generosity and kindness from other people.” Source - Variety The Bearded Trio - The Site For Steven Spielberg, George Lucas, John Williams and a whole lot more. Movie Review: "Thor: Ragnorok" Is A Campy And Very Funny Ode To B-Science Fiction

THOR: RAGNOROK Starring Chris Hemsworth, Tom Hiddleston,  Cate Blanchett, Tessa Thompson, Idris Elba, Tessa Thompson, Karl Urban,  Jeff Goldblum  Anthony Hopkins and Mark Ruffalo Screenplay by Eric Pearson and Craig Kyle & Christopher Yost Directed by Taika Waititi Reviewed by by Patrick & Paul Gibbs  Out of Four It seems there has been a backlash against the original Thor over time,   but personally we are quite fond of Kenneth Branagh's film .  Natalie Portman's Jane Foster character has been vilified by many, and she was indeed a bit of of a swooning Mary Swann (a hybrid of the Mary Sue designation and Twilight' s Bella Swann, who is basically a Mary Sue without the "good at things" element), but the combination of King Lear (Edgar and Edmund, the sons of Glouchester, to be specific) and  Crocodile Dundee with a Norse God was an awful lot of fun, and after the misfire of Iron Man 2 it was the movie that sold us on actually
