New Star Wars merchandise revealed ahead of New York Toy Fair inspired by 'The Mandalorian' and 'Star Wars: The Clone Wars'

NEW PRODUCTS INSPIRED BY DISNEY+ ORIGINAL SERIES THE MANDALORIAN AND STAR WARS: THE CLONE WARS ANNOUNCED

All-new products featuring the Child arriving soon

This year, the Force is strong with fans who want to celebrate their love of all things Star Wars™ with new merchandise tied to beloved stories and characters revealed today just ahead of New York Toy Fair.

Leading with products inspired by the hit Disney+ series, The Mandalorian (created by Jon Favreau and Executive Produced by Dave Filoni, Kathleen Kennedy and Colin Wilson), anticipation is at an all-time high for toys, collectibles, books, home goods, apparel, games, accessories and more inspired by the galaxy’s newest (and arguably cutest) character, the Child, affectionately referred to as “Baby Yoda.” In addition to dozens of products previously announced, a number of all-new items across multiple categories were revealed for the first time today.

Highlights include THE CHILD ANIMATRONIC EDITION figure by Hasbro, which will be available for preorder at most major retailers starting at 6:00 PM today, a LEGO® construction set featuring the Mandalorian’s Razor Crest ship and LEGO® BrickHeadz™ Star Wars The Mandalorian & The Child 75317 building kit, and all-new offerings exclusive to shopDisney.uk | Disney store and Disney Parks. These new items and more will hit retail later this year.

Sought-after items featuring the Child from Hasbro, Funko, Mattel, Build-A-Bear®, shopDisney.uk | Disney store, and more, some of which went on pre-sale starting late last year, are also expected to hit shelves and doorsteps later this year.

“Finding ways to engage and surprise audiences with this new Star Wars story has been a tremendous opportunity,” said The Mandalorian creator Jon Favreau. “And holding back on product development will give everyone the chance to discover the character affectionately known to fans as “Baby Yoda” together. This is something special in the age of spoilers. I am so appreciative of the partnership with the teams at Lucasfilm and Disney who are translating these characters into products for fans to enjoy.”

Last year, products based on The Mandalorian streaming series, which launched on Disney+ in the U.S. on November 12th, quickly became some of the most sought-after Christmas gifts, with products inspired by the Child intentionally held back to uphold the big character reveal. As new viewers discovered the acclaimed show, demand for goods continued to grow, resulting in “Baby Yoda” being the #1 trending “baby” search on Google in the U.S. for 2019[1] and pre-orders of the Child product routinely hitting #1 U.S. across retail e-commerce sites like Amazon, Walmart.com, and Target.com. Recently, Funko announced their ‘The Child’ Pop! bobblehead was the top-selling pre-order figure of all-time

Also revealed today were new products inspired by the Emmy Award-winning animated series, Star Wars: The Clone Wars, which is also executive produced by Dave Filoni and is returning for a seventh and final season exclusively on Disney+. In celebration of the series, Hasbro revealed a Mandalorian DARKSABER LIGHTSABER, as well as additional products featuring Star Wars: The Clone Wars fan-favourite characters as part of their all-new Mission Fleet line of vehicles and figures, including ANAKIN SKYWALKER JEDI STARFIGHTER Vehicle and Figure, AHSOKA TANO AQUATIC ATTACK Micro Vehicle and Figure, and CAPTAIN REX CLONE COMBAT Vehicle and Figure.

Fans can expect more reveals of products inspired by The Mandalorian and Star Wars: The Clone Wars throughout the year.

The Mandalorian and Star Wars: The Clone Wars will be found on Disney+ when it launches on March 24th in the UK, Ireland, France, Spain, Italy, Germany, Switzerland and Austria. Pricing has also been confirmed at £5.99 per month, or £59.99 for an annual Disney+ subscription. The streaming service will launch in additional Western Europe markets, including Belgium, the Nordics, and Portugal in summer 2020.

“From breakout characters like the Child to the beloved Skywalker Saga and everything in between, Star Wars has the ability to connect with fans generation after generation,” said Ken Potrock, president, consumer products commercialization, Disney Parks, Experiences and Products. “It’s an honour to be able to deliver products and experiences that allow our fans around the world to celebrate their favourite characters and stories 365 days a year.”

Select Star Wars™ products will be on display at New York Toy Fair, which runs February 22-25, at the Jacob K. Javits Center.

Did Paul Freeman Accidentally Eat A Fly In Raiders of the Lost Ark?

The Famous Indiana Jones Fly In Belloq's Mouth Scene.  Did It Really Happen? I've always wondered if Paul Freeman unintentionally consumed a fly in this scene in Raiders of the Lost Ark?  It's the scene where Indiana Jones shouts down to Bellosh...I mean Belloq and threatens to blow up the ark.  Did a fly go in his mouth?

I remember watching this scene back in the early eighties and my ten year old mind thought he definitely had a snack while filming.  I recall talking about 'flygate' in my school playground at the time and the general consensus with my friends was that Freeman definitely had a sneaky snack.

Paul Freeman talks about the famous 'fly' scene in an interview with TheIndyExperience.com and settled 'flygate:'

This is a bit of a dicey question so don’t get too upset. (Laughs) A movie’s always got bloopers in it, some have a lot, and some only have three or four. And the most remarkable blooper was right before the opening of the Ark scene.…

Star Wars VII Movie Poster - Every End Is A New Beginning

Just saw this Star Wars VII movie poster on Kyle Newman's Facebook feed.  The poster is by Lyndon Berresford and Paul Bateman.
I am loving this.  Who do you think the two characters are?  Lando and Leia?  Han and Leia's children?

Have you seen other Star Wars VII movie posters?  Let me know.

Pinewood Studios To Expand To The Usa

BBC News have reported that Pinewood Studios are to expand to the USA.  This is great news for the famous studio that is rich in movie history.

UK film studio Pinewood Shepperton has announced plans to build its first sound stages in the United States. The Pinewood Atlanta complex will be built on 288 acres of land south of Atlanta, Georgia, as a joint venture with a US investment company. Georgia has been among the US states drawing film-making away from Hollywood with tax incentives in recent years. The deal is the latest sign of expansion at Pinewood, the home of the James Bond franchise. Earlier this month it announced a joint venture with a Chinese media group, potentially giving it access to the fast-growing Chinese market.
