Whovians will be happy to know that filming for series 9 of Doctor Who has officially begun. The episodes currently in production make up a season-opening two-parter written by Toby Whithouse and directed by Daniel O'Hara.
Doctor Who showrunner and executive producer Steven Moffat had this to say about the series opener:
"An amazing guest cast for a brilliantly creepy two-parter by Toby Whithouse. Peter Capaldi and Jenna Coleman are back in Cardiff, back in the box, and back in action - for one of four of our scariest adventures yet!"The Doctor himself, Peter Capaldi, had this to say about returning to the role:
"The adventures begin again for myself and Jenna and I'm delighted to be back filming my second series of Doctor Who."Joining Peter and Jenna for the series opener are Paul Kaye, Morven Christie, Arsher Ali, Colin McFarlane, and Sophie Stone. Other confirmed cast members include Zaqi Ismail, Steven Robertson, and Neil Fingleton.
Cast members for the rest of the series will be announced as production continues over the coming months. Doctor Who returns this fall.
