Answering our quick fire questions this week we have Comic Book Central and contributor to The Indycast, Joe Stuber.
Joe is a video writer, producer, director and editor. Impressively, he has won a couple of regional Emmy awards for his work and several national awards. Along with Keith Voss, Joe has been producing the Further Adventures of Indiana Jones segment on The IndyCast since June 13, 2011, where they review every issue of Marvel Comics' 1980's series “The Further Adventures of Indiana Jones” and interview the folks who worked on the book from the Mighty Marvel Bullpen.
On November 8, 2013, Joe launched Comic Book Central – where comic books come to life! The podcast is themed around comics and how they are adapted into other media.
New episodes of Comic Book Central go online every Friday. Guests include Stan Lee, Jaimie Alexander, Michael Rosenbaum, Dean Cain, Lou Ferrigno, Jonathan Frakes, Erin Gray, Ilya Salkind and MANY more.
With that lets get the questions started.
You're stuck in a swamp on Dagobah. What one movie, TV show, album and book would you take?
Movie: Raiders of the Lost Ark. Shocking, right? But it truly is a perfect film. And when I say,
“perfect”, I'm not saying it doesn't have flaws. I mean that it has everything you would want an action adventure film to have. Excellent pacing, spectacular cinematography shot on location around the world, just the right combination of humor and tension...and the greatest action hero of all time.
TV show: Stuck in a swamp? I need a lot of laughs. My first thought would be The Carol Burnett Show, but David Letterman's recent retirement announcement has made me nostalgic. I'll go with Late NIGHT With David Letterman.
Album: Easy. One might think I would choose Raiders, but one would be incorrect. The greatest album from the greatest composer: Superman: The Movie. I can see the entire movie just by listening.
Book: The Bible. Inspirational, encouraging and a solution for every problem.
If you could invite any three people (alive or not, fictitious or not) to a dinner party, who would they be?
Dinner parties thrive on entertainment. So I would need three folks that would keep the party hopping. Jerry Seinfeld, Don Rickles and Bruce Springsteen. Who would ever want to leave?
What is your favourite John Williams soundtrack?
Superman: The Movie. It's flawless.
If you were invisible for a day what would be the first thing you would do?
Sneak onto the set of the latest Marvel movie being filmed.
When was the last time you cried?
Monday night. As a tribute to Mickey Rooney, my wife and I watched his 1981 TV movie, Bill. It's heartbreaking...and far and away his best performance. The film gets me every time. It's on the YouTubes. Do yourself a favor and check it out. The next time I bawl will be when I watch E.T.
What is your biggest fear?
Something bad happening to a family member or friend. I don't even like to think about it.
What was the most embarrassing moment of your life?
I've probably blocked it out.
Excluding search engines, what three website would you choose if no other websites were available?
Excluding Comic Book Central: Facebook, YouTube and USA Today (I need to know what's going on in the real world...or at least as close as USA Today can get)
Do you have any guilty pleasures?
Cheesecake, cheesecake and...cheesecake. Come to think of it...I never feel guily when I eat cheesecake. So give me more cheesecake.
What are you looking forward to the most in the next six months?
My platinum wedding anniversary. Perhaps I'll buy my wife a catalytic converter.
What is your most treasured possession?
I won't go for the easy answers of wedding album or wedding ring. I'll stick to the spirit of the site and go with a collectible. I'm a huge Jimmy Stewart fan and I was able to get his book, “Jimmy Stewart and His Poems” signed shortly before he passed away. The greatest actor of all time. A close second would be John Williams' Superman soundtrack. Again?! Yes, again. It was a gift given to me by a close family friend. For a 10 year-old kid, getting that masterpiece right before seeing the movie left an indelible impression. What an incredibly thoughtful gift. I listen to the CDs...but I cherish the vinyl.
What is your biggest regret?
No regrets. What's the point?
What are you most proud of?
Being a good husband. Or at least trying to be.
What is your favourite Spielberg movie?
Three guesses. ;-)
