This is an article from The Beacon 1957, a newspaper for the March Air Force Base which still exists today. This one in particular featured none other than John Williams. Even back then he was making people sit up and take notice of his natural talent. I particularly like the opening lines:
Some the words "music by Johnny Williams" will flash on your local theater screen. When this statement appears you will recall when Johnny was A/1c John Williams, AF 19389341, 523 Air Force Band, March Air Force Base.
The article ends with the mention that the composer is soon to be discharged and intends on pursuing his interest of music and to write for motion pictures. I wonder how that went?
