LEGENDARY PRODUCER JERRY BRUCKHEIMER TO RECEIVE HONORARY GOLDEN NYMPH AWARD @FestivaltvMC



Jerry Bruckheimer, one of the most prolific and successful television and film producers in history, will receive the prestigious Honorary Golden Nymph Award recognizing his lifetime achievements in his profession. The presentation will be made by H.S.H. Prince Albert of Monaco at the Opening Ceremony of the 54th Annual Monte-Carlo Television Festival, it was announced today by Laurent Puons, CEO of the Festival. The Festival will be held in Monte-Carlo from June 7-11, 2014. 

Mr. Bruckheimer’s television programs and films have reached into literally all corners of the globe. His films have earned over $16 billion in worldwide box office, video and recording revenues and in the 2005-06 season he had a record-breaking 10 series on network television, a feat unprecedented in nearly 60 years of television history. His projects have been acknowledged with 41 Academy Award nominations (six wins), 118 Emmy Award nominations (22 wins), 23 Golden Globe nominations (four wins), 30 People’s Choice Awards nominations (15 wins) and numerous other major accolades.

Mr. Bruckheimer’s television production activities are extensive. They include the highly successful and long-running “CSI” franchise, “Without a Trace,” “Cold Case,” “Dark Blue,” nine-time Emmy Award-winning “The Amazing Race” and the new series “Hostages,” to name just a few.

For the past 40 years, Bruckheimer’s films have included some of the most popular and iconic work spanning multiple generations. His films have starred some of the industry’s top talent, including Tom Cruise (“Top Gun” and “Days of Thunder”), Eddie Murphy (“Beverly Hills Cop”), Sean Connery and Nicolas Cage (“The Rock”), Bruce Willis and Ben Affleck (“Armageddon”), Ben Affleck (“Pearl Harbor”) and Johnny Depp (the “Pirates of the Caribbean” branded films).

“If it is possible for a producer to become a worldwide brand, Jerry Bruckheimer is that producer,” Puons commented. “His work is seen throughout the world and has captured the imagination of multiple generations who have experienced the very best in filmed entertainment that he has produced. We are delighted that he has accepted our invitation to honor him. He will receive an award from H.S.H. Prince Albert that he richly deserves.”

Bruckheimer joins a long list of legends who have received the Honorary Golden Nymph Award from the Festival, including Dick Wolf, Anne Sweeney, David E. Kelley, Marcy Carsey, Ted Turner, Merv Griffin, Bruce Gordon, Robert Halmi, Sr., Stephen J. Cannell and Reg Grundy, among others. 

The Monte-Carlo Television Festival, founded in 1961 by H.S.H. Prince Rainier III, is widely recognized as the world’s most prestigious international television competition and festival. Highlights include the Golden Nymph Awards, premiere screenings, VIP receptions and social events organized by some of the major networks and studios which all contribute to the glamour and ambiance of Monaco. The international television festival gathers the leading and most successful creative forces of the industry with the presence of more than 300 journalists from around the world offering a unique promotional platform.

Pinewood Studios To Expand To The Usa

BBC News have reported that Pinewood Studios are to expand to the USA.  This is great news for the famous studio that is rich in movie history. UK film studio Pinewood Shepperton has announced plans to build its first sound stages in the United States. The Pinewood Atlanta complex will be built on 288 acres of land south of Atlanta, Georgia, as a joint venture with a US investment company. Georgia has been among the US states drawing film-making away from Hollywood with tax incentives in recent years. The deal is the latest sign of expansion at Pinewood, the home of the James Bond franchise. Earlier this month it announced a joint venture with a Chinese media group, potentially giving it access to the fast-growing Chinese market. Read the full article here.
