SDCC: Peter Jackson Talks Tintin Sequels

ComingSoon.net caught up with Peter Jackson just after the press conference and got a quick update on where he and Steven Spielberg want to take Tintin after the first film,The Adventures of Tintin: Secret of the Unicorn, hits theaters late next year. "I've got several favorite stories," says Jackson, "I like 'Seven Crystal Balls' and 'Prisoners of the Sun.' I like 'The Black Island.' I like 'The Calculus Affair.' I haven't made a final decision yet." Jackson confirmed that work on the follow-up won't start until he's completely done with writing duties on The Hobbit. He did, however, say that he has a neat idea of where he'd like to take Tintin after the first sequel: all the way to the moon. Published in 1953, Tintin actually beat Apollo 11 by 16 years in a famously retro red and white checkered rocketship. Like the adventure chosen for the first film ("Secret of the Unicorn" and "Red Rackham's...

Tales Of Monkey Island Review

I've just finished chapter one of Tales of Monkey Island by TellTale Games. If you are worried that this new addition won't meet your high expectations of Monkey Island gone-by, then fear not. This is every bit worthy of sitting along side the previous offerings. The first chapter will take you between three to five hours to finish. The voice acting is superb, the wonderful monkey island music returns and the comedy is there in all its glory. Please do everyone a favour and buy this. I want more!

Sky subscribers to get Spielberg-produced war drama

Subscribers to Sky's broadband, telephone and television packages could soon be enjoying a new TV series that claims to be a "companion piece" to an award-winning 2001 war drama. Produced by Angels & Demons star Tom Hanks and legendary Hollywood director Steven Spielberg, The Pacific follows the exploits of a group of World War II soldiers. As the show is from the same team that brought the multiple Emmy and Golden Globe-winning Band of Brothers to the screen, the series is likely to be highly-anticipated and the network will be showing it on Sky Movies with an option to watch it in high definition. Expected to premiere later in spring, the ten-part mini series comes from the Home Box Office - or HBO - stable that has also brought hit shows including Curb Your Enthusiasm and The Sopranos to US and UK audiences. Steven Spielberg has spoken out to The Guardian about the future of the games industry and why he thinks consoles will soon go " the way of the Dodo. " Spielberg thinks that just as most arcades and " videogame parlors " died out a while back, so too will conventional gaming consoles - to be replaced by virtual reality devices that allow gamers to interface directly with their TVs. (2020 update.  VR is here but consoles still lead the market by quite a way.  We have a long way to go before we get the Oasis in Ready Player One.  I wonder what happened to that project? - Rob) "In the short term I would love to start seeing 3D games developed where with a good pair of glasses we get a real three-dimensional experience in front of an appropriate monitor that is designed just for 3D ," he said. " After that, will certainly be virtual reality, which just like 3D came and went in the 1950s, and now it's here to stay in movies. " " I re...

Ford gave LaBeouf Indy's hat

Harrison Ford had a very special wrap gift for his movie son after completing 'Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull' - he tossed Shia LaBeouf his sweaty hat. Ford, George Lucas and Steven Spielberg - the moviemakers behind the Indiana Jones franchise - have dismissed reports LaBeouf will be taking over as Jones, but the young star has the movie icon's hat! He said: "It has his sweat stains from the whole movie in it. We were way out somewhere at an airplane hangar on the last day of shooting, and he took the hat off his head, signed it and handed it to me. "When I looked at the hat I saw he had written something with a silver Sharpie (pen). It said, 'It's all yours now, kid - Harrison.'" But LaBeouf is quick to point out that he won't be taking over from Ford any time soon: "It's easy to perceive that as his handing the reins over to me on a franchise or whatever... that's not it. "It was his way of sa...

Indiana Jones And The Staff Of The Kings (Press Release)

Indiana Jones And The Staff Of The Kings PRESS RELEASE: The iconic hero Indiana Jones makes a return to video games as he tries to track down religious artefact the Staff Of Kings in LucasArts and Activision Blizzard’s upcoming adventure title… Dr Henry Jones Jr. has had a surprisingly erratic history with video games. Despite arguably being a key source of inspiration for the likes of Tomb Raider and Uncharted, Indiana has yet to see releases as regular as more contemporary heroes, such as James Bond and Harry Potter. However, the archaeologist’s return to the silver screen in last year’s Kingdom Of The Crystal Skull has renewed the public’s interest in his adventures, prompting the release of Lego: Indiana Jones, a family-orientated romp through the first three films. The game was so successful it managed to knock GTA IV, Metal Gear Solid 4 and Wii Fit from the top spot in the UK charts – proving that demand for Indiana’s whip-cracking antics is high. THE LATEST CRUSADE ...

Review of Rogue Leaders- The Story Of Lucasarts

Well I just finished reading Rogue Leaders: The Story of Lucasarts. The book looks amazing with a holographic moving front cover that changes between all the great Lucasarts characters such as Guybrush Threepwood, Vader, Evil Tentacle, Lego Indiana Jones. It oozes quality from the outside and I couldn't wait to start reading about the greats such as Monkey Island and Day of the Tentacle. Although a thorough book I couldn't help think that it was being thorough in all the wrong places. Not enough was mentioned about the greats. Monkey Island two gets no more than three pages dedicated to its 256 colourful pages. Never the less its worth the buy and will keep you entertained throughout. From the point and click days to Star Wars licenced overload. From the book you will learn how Lucasarts admitted they were churning out too much mediocre games and have aimed to go back to basics. It will also make you realise how Lucasarts is now not a patch on its greatness of the 80s ...
