Bringing the massive Stephen King/Peter Straub horror book The Talisman to the screen (whether being
it the big or the small) has been on Spielberg's
To-Do list for a long long time. The recent success Amblin Television had
(and has) with the translation of one of Stephen King’s other book titles, Under the Dome, however has lit the
spark once more, so hopefully we will be able to take a closer look at the dark
parallel world of Jack Sawyer in the very near future.
However, Stephen King isn’t the only person in the King family writing
at this moment. Both his wife (Tabitha) and his sons (Owen King and Joe Hill)
have had success in writing.
Joe’s writing comes closest to that of his father and so it doesn’t come
as much of a surprise that his work has been transferred to film and TV as
well. Last year his novel Horns received the Hollywood treatment, but that wasn’t
the first time. His Graphic Novel-series Locke & Key (An adventure series
centered around three children who become the caretakers of a New England
mansion that is home to a bevy of secrets and magic.) which has been
published from 2008 till 2013, was the subject of a TV-Movie in 2011, produced
by Amblin
and DreamWorks
Television.
I'll keep you posted.
Ronny.
