After the recent tribute to Steven, I thought today it would be time to honor one of Steven's best known colleagues (other than George of course): Martin Scorcese.
Steven and Martin have crossed paths on many occasions: Steven helped with the editing of the finale of Martin's Taxi Driver, Martin directed one of the episodes of Spielberg's Amazing Stories Anthology, acted in the segment on Vincent van Gogh in Akira Kurosawa's Dreams (that Steven helped produce), he almost directed Schindler's List, when Steven asked him to, but in the end took Cape Fear out of Steven's hands and give him the director's chair (back) on Schindler, did one of the voices in DreamWorks Animation's Shark Tale, and of course it was Steven and George who presented Martin with his long overdue Academy Award for excellence in Directing, back in 2007 for his work on The Departed.
Both Steven and Martin love art (and have collected some, over the years) and adore Stanley Kubrick, but let's not get carried away.
Just as Martin is a man of many faces, these two tributes deal with his legacy in different ways. Enjoy.
