George Lucas has slammed the Oscars and Hollywood in particular calling their decisions more like 'a political campaign.' He showed his frustration for the Academy saying "It's a political campaign. It has nothing to do with artistic endeavour at all...Why do we elect people who drift toward not the most talented, best, and brightest we have in the country? It's all political. ... I think it hurts everybody."
George Lucas was responding to host Gayle King's question on CBS's This Morning show about whether he saw the all-white categories as a snub of eligible black actors, like Selma's David Oyelowo.

(Personally I totally agree with George Lucas on this one and often wondered why 'household names' keep getting nominated over genuine and lesser known actors and actresses who may have performed one of the best performances of the year - Rob, The Bearded Trio)
