Robert Orci Will NOT Direct Star Trek "3" Campaign Started To Get Jonathan Frakes On Board #BringInRiker
It was almost a done deal. Robert Orci was all set to direct Star Trek '3.' But as the 17th Rule of Acquisition states: 'A contract is a contract is a contract ... but only between Ferengi.'
Orci will still be helping but as a producer. Deadline reported the news and also said there is a short-list of candidates to take over the directors chair including British director, Edgar Wright. The Shaun of the Dead director recently walked away from directing Marvel's Ant Man.
Another possibility is Commander Riker himself, Jonathan Riker who may be thrown into the mix. Fans took to Reddit and Twitter over the last week with the hashtag #BringinRiker. The idea is a good one. Frakes has directed two Star Trek movies including First Contact which many say is the best Star Trek film to date (not as good as Star Trek V - Rob.) Also he knows so much about the Trek universe and he could bring back the Star Trek feel to Star Trek.
Lets wait and see. Make it so.
