Marvel Comics' 'Star Wars: Kanan' will show how Kanan Jarrus survived the rise of the Empire.
Padawan Kanan Jarrus' fight to survive will be revealed in a comic series from Marvel starting April 2015.
The new ongoing series, written by Greg Weisman and drawn by Pepe Laraz, will serve as a bridge between the previous Star Wars animated series "The Clone Wars" and the new "Rebels" series showing how Kanan escaped the extinction of the Jedi and the loss of his master Depa Billaba.
Kanan will struggle to make his way in a changed galaxy in the wake of Order 66, which saw Clone Troopers turn on their Jedi leaders as the Empire took over the galaxy.
"He's never had to be in the real world, he was sheltered in the Jedi Temple," said Jennifer Heddle, Lucasfilm senior editor, at a panel about upcoming "Star Wars" literature at New York Comic Con 2014.
