It looks like the sci-fi drama starring Halle Berry, Extant, will be wrapping its season a bit earlier than originally planned. The final episode of the season was scheduled to air during premiere week - but that would put it up against stiff competition, such as the season premieres of Modern Family and Law & Order: SVU. As it stands now, the season will wrap up a week earlier on September 17. The change means that CBS will air two episodes back-to-back on Wednesday, August 20.
In an attempt to boost lackluster ratings, CBS recently moved Extant to the 10 p.m. time slot. However, rather than improve, ratings merely held steady with 5.92 million viewers within the 18-49 age demographic. While it did beat its competition on ABC and NBC, it remains to be seen if that’s enough to ensure a future for the Steven Spielberg-produced show.
