Screenwriter Roberto Orci is reportedly in talks with Paramount to take the helm as director for the next Star Trek film. The previous two being directed by Star Wars VII director, J.J. Abrams.
Only a few weeks ago Variety reported Alex Kurtzman has split from the long time writing collaboration with Orci. In the same article it was also reported that Orci had been pushing to take the director's chair for Star Trek.
It is also thought that Orci is working on the script for the next Trek movie.
All speculation of course but according to Deadline negotiations have already begun. Deadline write:
After an aggressive lobbying campaign, Roberto Orci has emerged as the clear frontrunner to replace JJ Abrams and direct Paramount‘s third installment of the Star Trek series. I’m hearing they’re in talks.
