There's good news and bad news for Ghostbusters 3. The good news is Sony Pictures has announced plans to begin shooting the film in New York City in early 2015, Deadline reports.
The bad news is director Ivan Reitman has dropped out of the project in the wake of Ramis's death last month. Production will continue however with Reitman helping the producers (Amy Pascal) find a new director.
Digital Spy reports:
Reitman has revealed that the final script for the upcoming film is one that went through several iterations in order to please Aykroyd, Ramis and Bill Murray, who has apparently not agreed to do the film.
He said: "It's a version of Ghostbusters that has the originals in a very minor role... When I came back from Harold's funeral, it was really moving and it made me think about a lot of things.
"I just finally met with Amy and Doug Belgrad when I got back. I said I'd been thinking about it for weeks, that I'd rather just produce this Ghostbusters.
