Our campaign to get one of the sound stages at the recently announced Pinewood Studios, Cardiff named after Cardiff-born Richard Marquand is gathering speed. Posted on Jedi News, Rebelforce Radio's Facebook page, being tweeted by the official Star Wars Twitter feed and now appearing on the popular Metro website.
Mark Newbold and James Burns of Jedi News contribute to the site and keep readers up to date with the latest news on Star Wars and it was this story they chose to run with:
With the recent announcement of Pinewood Studios’ decision to build a new studio in Cardiff, a petition has been started by a Welsh Star Wars website to have one of those stages named after the director of Return of the Jedi. Thanks to to the team at Jedi News for helping to spread the word. Check out the full article here. Please sign the petition over at Change.org.
With the new Pinewood Studios Wales being based at the former Energy Centre building in Wentloog, it will be a part of Pinewoods’ global network and the Welsh government hopes the 180,000 sq ft complex will generate an estimated £90m for the Welsh economy. But at this early juncture, it’s unlikely that any of the stages have been named yet, giving Star Wars fans a perfect opportunity to get involved.
Via Change.org Rob Wainfur, the webmaster of The Bearded Trio which shines a light on the careers of George Lucas, Steven Spielberg and John Williams, has started this petition which aims to name one of the stages after the late Richard Marquand, the director of Jedi who passed away in 1987.
Thanks everyone
