Steven Spielberg is preparing to mark the 20th anniversary of his harrowing World War II epic Schindler's List with a series of special charity screenings. Spielberg has personally supervised the meticulous restoration of the Holocaust movie, which was originally released in November 1993, and screenings of the remastered version will benefit the USC Shoah Foundation's Institute for Visual History and Education. The director founded the charity organisation in 1994 as a result of his experiences making the film. The series will debut with a special benefit screening at the Prince Music Theater in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on 12 September (13), the day before the start of Jewish religious festival Yom Kippur. Steve Cozen, USC Shoah Foundation Board of Councilors Member, says, "This event provides a unique opportunity to bring together the community to both remember and pay tribute to the survivors and ensure that their stories are heard, preserved and used for education. And its significance is greater than ever because of its coincidence with the Yom Kippur holiday on September 13."
