The Wrap has reported that Steven Spielberg has committed to making the Bradley Cooper vehicle "American Sniper" his next movie.
The film will be based on American Sniper: The The Autobiography of the Most Lethal Sniper in US Military History, by Chris Kyle, Scott McEwen and Jim DeFelice which tells the story of a rodeo cowboy from Texas who eventually joins the Navy SEALS and tots up the biggest amount of sniper kills in history.
Cooper's production company optioned the rights to the book in 2012, and the project was subsequently fast-tracked after Kyle was shot and killed on February 2 at a shooting range in Erath County, Texas.
Spielberg originally intended to direct "Robopocalypse" as his follow-up to "Lincoln," but that film was pushed back in January.
