Hundreds watch Jurassic Park among dinosaurs at Bristol Zoo

Hundreds of people made the most of Saturday's glorious weather and attended two open-air screenings of Jurassic Park at Bristol Zoo. The crowds enjoyed the later showing of Jurassic Park Credit: ITV West Among the crowds enjoying the Steven Spielberg film were 12 prehistoric creatures. The large moving, roaring and water-spraying dinosaurs are part of DinoZoo; a new addition to the zoo which helped add atmosphere to the adventure thriller for the film fans. The scary Tyrannosaurus Rex at Bristol Zoo Credit: Bristol Zoo A giant tyrannosaurus rex, allosaurus, ornithomimus and the long-necked brachiosaurus were fully operational throughout the duration of the film. Guests were encouraged to bring fold-away chairs and rugs. It's such a fantastic idea. I'm a huge fan of the film so getting to watch it while being surrounded by the realistic dinosaurs really set the scene. – DANIEL WILLIAMS, FILM FAN There were two screenings of the film; the earlier showing at 1730 and a later s…

Star Wars Van - I Want One Now.

This 1979 Dodge Ram Van, for sale on eBay, is a discreet, unobtrusive way of conveying your support for the Rebel Alliance. The interior isn't equipped for the full Star Wars experience, but think of that as a project that you can work on. The exterior is enough to give you the lifestyle that you crave:
Kids point, mouths gape, even had a cop turn around and pull over to have his picture made with it. I have owned many awesome cars over the years and this one has been the MOST fun. Steven Spielberg Not Interested In Navy Seal Book

A representative for Steven Spielberg has distanced the filmmaker from reports linking him to a movie adaptation of a new book about the hunt for terror mastermind Osama Bin Laden.
No Easy Day: The Firsthand Account of the Mission That Killed Osama bin Laden has been written by a former Navy Seal officer, using the pen name Mark Owen. The author was involved in the ambush and details the events leading up to the assassination of the Al Qaeda leader on 2 May, 2011 in Pakistan.
Spielberg was said to be keen to option the book for a Hollywood adaptation, but spokesman Marvin Levy has shot down the claims - and insists the director's DreamWorks production companies will have nothing to do with the tome either.
Levy tells The Hollywood Reporter, "Neither Steven Spielberg, DreamWorks Studios or DreamWorks Television will be optioning Mark Owen's book, No Easy Day."
The book is due for release next month (Sep12), but it has already caused controversy among U.S. officials am…

Marin says zoning allows up to 240 units at Grady Ranch owned by George Lucas

As the Marin Community Foundation seeks development of a low- and moderate-income housing complex at Grady Ranch, county officials have concluded that an affordable project of about 240 units is allowed there under current zoning. On the other hand, the 236-acre tract owned by filmmaker George Lucas could accommodate a 48-home market-rate subdivision. Foundation CEO Thomas Peters, noting there is a "clear distinction between what the planners cite as may be allowed ... (and) what the Marin Community Foundation may apply for," said the philanthropic institution will seek developers qualified to proceed with an appropriate affordable project. Its size remains uncertain. The land in Lucas Valley seems destined for affordable housing following a debacle in which plans for a huge film studio generating hundreds of jobs and millions of dollars in tax revenue collapsed under the weight of red tape, neighborhood opposition, fears of a lengthy court battle and a watershed restoratio…

Steven Spielberg meets with Ex-Navy SEAL who wrote inside account of Osama bin Laden raid to discuss film rights to his story

A former Navy SEAL's book with his first-hand account of the Osama bin Laden raid hasn't even hit stores yet, but Hollywood is already knocking at his door.
It was revealed on Sunday that director Steven Spielberg met with the retired commando to discuss making a movie about his experience.
At least two other movie-makers have also met with the Navy SEAL to talk about licensing the story.
The author of 'No East Day: The Firsthand Account of the Mission that Killed Osama bin Laden' is already risking his life and a jail term by publishing the book.
However, it could come with a big pay-off, the New York Post reports.
In addition to Spielberg, who directed 'War Horse' and 'Saving Private Ryan,' Dreamworks and HBO’s Richard Plepler have met with the author.
'He is still talking to DreamWorks and Spielberg,' a source told the Post.
This would be the third movie to tell the story of the raid that killed the mastermind of the September 11 terrorist attacks.

Matt Smith and Karen Gillan arrive at Doctor Who screening in vintage DeLorean

He is used to whizzing through time in his trusty blue TARDIS but Doctor Who chose a different time machine on Saturday afternoon. Actors Matt Smith and Karen Gillan arrived in style at an advanced screening of the new series of Doctor Who, but used another iconic movie vehicle. The two stars rocked up in a vintage 1981 DeLorean sports car, the very same motor made famous by Marty McFly in Steven Spielberg's Back To The Future saga. Great Scott: Matt Smith and Karen Gillan arrive at the BBC America screening of Doctor Who at The Ziegfel Theatre, in New York, on Saturday Instead of a standard limousine the pair chose to arrive in the old school car, which has a huge following in the US. Matt, 29, was dressed as casually as normal in a pair of skinny jeans with a white T-shirt and waistcoat while hiding his eyes behind a pair of aviator sunglasses. Karen, 24, was much smarter dressed and looked pretty in a strapless polka-dot dress with her red hair flowing down over her shoulders.  Nice…

Knights of the Old Republic II is Finally on Steam

It's about damn time. Having been mysteriously absent from all of the other great Star Wars games on Steam for years, today Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lordscan now be purchased for the bargain price of $10 on the ever-popular gaming service.

Could this pave the way for other Star Wars games that have been absent as well, like TIE Fighter and X-Wing? I sure hope so. Considering Star Wars Celebration VI is in full-swingthis week, I wonder if we'll get news about those other classics being re-released.

Star Wars First Assault domain names registered by Lucasfilm

Lucasfilm, the parent company of LucasArts, has registered several domain names all relating to a mysterious project titled "Star Wars First Assault". The report comes from Fusible, who spotted names like and were registered through Corporation Service Company, an internet brand protection agency who Lucasfilm just so happens to be a client of. Below is the list of names that were all privately registered: So what is Star Wars First Assault? According to Fusible, no trademark application has been filed at the United States Patent and Trademark Office, and with Lucasfilm not announcing anything, it's hard to speculate as to whether this is related to a video game, movie, or some other Star Warsproject. http://w…

John Williams 2 Hour Special And Interview This Monday on ClassicFM

The recent news that The Classical Brit Awards will recognise the Jedi Maestro (FSM Vol.4 No.5) with a Lifetime Achievement Award at the end of the ceremony with a tribute is another suitable salute from his peers, colleagues and admirers alike. However, ahead of the October 2nd ceremony (which will be televised), ClassicFM will be devoting two hours of air-time to John Williams' illustrious career this coming Monday 27th August between 8 and 10pm (BST). The two hours won't be just a generic tribute show though, quite the opposite. It will include an in-depth interview with JW by the director and producer Tommy Pearson ( and as you are about to read, this will feature more than just some of the same old questions we're so used to hearing.

Introducing Star Wars Detours

Star Wars Detours™ is an animated comedy that explores what daily life is like in a galaxy far, far away. There are no Empires striking back or attacking clones here. Instead, Star Wars Detours focuses on the universe's regular folks and their everyday problems... which, to be fair, do frequently involve famous bounty hunters, crazed Ewoks, and even a Dark Lord of the Sith.

Welcome to Star Wars: Detours: the other side of the stars, between the wars.

I actually think Star Wars Detours is looking good.  From the clips shown it made me smile and with Seth Green behind it I think this will be a show worthy of the Star Wars name. I'll keep you posted.

Big Bang Theory Chuck Lorre Productions Letter To George Lucas

I was just watching The Big Bang Theory and at the end they show they always show a message (vanity card.)  This one is for George Lucas.  In the episode they slightly run down the brilliant Clone Wars TV show and lay into Star Trek V in a big way hence the last sentence.  This is what the card says:

CHUCK LORRE PRODUCTIONS, #227 Dear George Lucas,

May I call you Mr. Lucas? On behalf of the writers of The Big Bang Theory, I would like to thank you for your astounding body of work, which has awakened the child within us and unleashed our dreams. That being said, we hope you don't take offense at our good-natured jest regarding your most recent animated efforts. Yes they were cheap shots, but we can't help but hold you to a higher standard -- a standard of your own making. In closing, we are all looking forward to Indiana Jones 5 - The Curse of the Golden Catheter. Oops, sorry again.

Very truly yours,

The Writers

Fox signs deal with DreamWorks Animation

20th Century Fox movie studio will distribute animated feature films from "Kung Fu Panda" maker Dreamworks Animation for the next five years, the studios announced on Monday. Fox is taking over the role currently played by Viacom unit Paramount Pictures, which has been distributing Dreamworks Animation films for a fee of about 8 percent of revenue from each movie. Fox will distribute the films for the same fee, Dreamworks Animation CEO Jeffrey Katzenberg told reporters on a conference call. But the new arrangement is more favorable, he said, because both studios can take advantage of lower costs from digital distribution. Under the existing deal, Paramount received about $40 million in 2011 from Dreamworks Animation, according to a source familiar with the arrangement. Fox, a unit of News Corp, will distribute the studio's films for five years starting in 2013, including next year's "The Croods" and "Turbo." Fox has its own animated slate of films…

EA Still Confident in BioWare

Despite the criticisms of its latest three games, BioWare still has the full support of Electronic Arts. BioWare is in a very unique position at the moment. One the one hand, its last three games were arguably the most anticipated of the developers entire history. On the other hand, those three games were Dragon Age 2Mass Effect 3, and Star Wars: The Old Republic, the first two of which divided the fanbases of its franchises while the third saw subscription figures drop six months after launch. Despite the ups and downs of the past 18 months, BioWare still has friends backing it up, in particular EA COO Peter Moore, who still has confidence in what the developer can accomplish. "They're doing great," Moore told Eurogamer. "You say the last 12-18 months, I think of three things: I think ofStar Wars: The Old Republic, I think of what Mass Effect 3 has done and all of the offshoots we've done of that, and then a little bit further back Dragon Age. So from that p…
