Lucasfilm artist - Kevin Liell  This weeks quick fire questions are shot at Star Wars artist Kevin Liell. Kevin has done work for Topps Cards, Lucasfilm, and more. We all know that Drew Struzan is on a different level when it comes to his talent as an artist. He is well and truely etched in the Star Wars annals along with such names as John Williams and Stuart Freeborn. So for anyone to try and emulate the great Drew Struzan they would have some huge task ahead of them. Artist and fan Adam Scickling has taken on that task and delivered something quite spectacular. We were lucky enough to ask Adam a few questions regarding the poster and what's involved. When you painted the poster did you actually have Drew Struzan's style in mind? If so did the task seem twice as big because of this? I love the paintings and drawings of Drew Struzan, so I would be lying if I said that his work did not influence mine. I was trying to capture the look and feeling that a Drew poster has. My hope was that I captured a fraction of that emotion and realism of what Drew can in any one of his amazing pieces of art. What a career John Rhys-Davies has had. Raiders, The Last Crusade, Lord Of The Rings, Sliders, Wing Commander and much more. I've been a huge fan of his since I first saw him as Sallah in Raiders Of The Lost Ark. So I'm really pleased (and envious) that Bryan Young had the chance to interview him back at Dragon Con in 2012. Guest writer Rhys Thomas reviews a forgotten gem from the 80's, Def-Con 4. Def-Con 4 is a film I watched as a child and then subsequently forgot about. I hunted it down a few years ago when I found out it was made by Paul Donavan and Salter Street films who went on to make Lexx which is one of my favourite TV shows. Fans of Lexx will see a few familiar faces as quite a few of the cast of Def-Con 4 went on to make appearances in the show. Maury Chaykin and Jeff Pustil who played Pa Gollean and Fifi respectively are two of the more recognisable Lexx alumni who made early appearances in this movie. The first quarter of the film is reminiscent of John Carpenter's Dark Star with nice space station scenes with lots of white confined spaces with the odd corridor shot thrown in for good measure, some good shots of the ship above the Earth too. According to various news sites, Steven Spielberg is set to sail around the world on his luxury yacht with his wife.  An aide over at Amblin Entertainment told the New York Post, "We are not expecting to see him during the summer." Spielberg's Yacht His yacht apparently cost $200 million dollars and sports a spa, a movie theatre and an anti-seasickness system. The trip will take in North Africa and Sri Lanka where he filmed his 'Indiana Jones' movies. They'll also disembark at Shanghai where he made 'Empire of the Sun', and Hawaii where Jurassic Park was filmed on Kauai, the archipelago's fourth larger island. It does sound like the director is taking some well earned rest so expect news on Spielberg to go quiet during the summer. Rob Wainfur @welshslider

W ith the news now official  and various websites yesterday claiming that The Clone Wars has no home on any of Disney's channels, and the shows remaining episodes to be released on Blu-ray at best or worse on-line, the reaction on the internet was anything but positive for the studio.  What a difference five months makes.   Back in October when the news broke that Disney had bought Lucasfilm for just over $4 billion dollars, the majority of fans and in particular Star Wars fans sang a collective "hooray" and thought the company and the Star Wars franchise were in good hands.  We were promised more movies, more spin off movies and that Star Wars was forever, at least in the eyes of Disney.  Fast forward five months and the confidence shown towards Disney from fans has diluted somewhat.   First the 3D re-releases cancelled, then no news from Lucasarts on Star Wars 1313 or anything for that matter and now the situation on The Clone Wa...

T he team over at JediNews.co.uk are reporting that The Clone Wars is over.  Although not officially announced they have heard from several sources tonight that the show has ended.  They report: Although not yet officially confirmed, we’re hearing from several sources tonight that The Clone Wars as a TV show\series has ended. It’s not yet clear what will happen to the unaired finished episodes, those partway through production or if they will try and tie the show up with a direct to DVD\Blu-ray movie (something that Disney are known to have done with some of their other properties). This is backed up by RebelForce Radio .  Yesterday, Jimmy Mac wrote a comment on their Facebook page Online or DVD release of what is remaining is NOT preferable to broadcast TV. James Fox UFO documentary maker James Fox has revealed to an audience at this years UFO congress a letter he received from Steven Spielberg endorsing the documentary he has made called "I Know What I Saw". The letter also reveals Spielberg's desire someday for the government to fully disclose any evidence of extra-terrestrials and UFOs. The letter reads: Dear Larry, With great curiosity, I watched the documentary you sent over and found it compelling. Personally, I would like to think we are not alone, and even though I have devoted a generous percentage of my movies to extraterrestrial related themes, I for one have never seen a UFO. That is so unfair! (sic) I hope you will continue to pursue this topic on your program, and that some day our government will offer a total disclosure about what they know about unidentified flying objects and their true and natural origins. Argos 1985 For those who are not familiar with Argos, it is a UK store that is generally situated on the high street and in town/city centres. Here's the thing, even though they have stores, generally nothing is on display. Instead you walk in and order your item from a catalogue, find the item you want in the rather large book, write down the item number and take your ticket to the till. Within a few minutes your item will appear on a conveyor belt from the depths of the store room. I always imagined the store room to be like the end scene from Raiders Of The Lost Ark with one man in a vast room filled with wooden boxes. Anyway I thought you would like to see the Star Wars pages from the 1984 and 1985 catalogues. Many kids right across the land would use the Argos catalogue to choose their favourite toys and hopefully what would be under the christmas tree. I'm no exception. At-At for £29.99? Yes please.
