Entertainment Weekly Reveals First Look at The Mandalorian Season 2

This morning, Entertainment Weekly published its Fall TV preview, highlighted by the forthcoming second season of The Mandalorian. Check out EW's coverage here . Season two debuts on Friday, October 30 on Disney Plus, continuing the wildly popular series that headlined Disney's streaming service when it began on November 12, 2019. The preview featured alternate covers, with Din Djarin and The Child.  There wasn't much in terms of speculation or reveals for the second season. There have been plenty of rumors about casting and character appearances. The article does reference the scope of the show expanding a bit, which makes a lot of sense. Season one was a fairly tight story in terms of the environments and scope in relation to the larger Star Wars universe. Logic would dictate the second season "swims to a deeper end of the pool" in this regard.  Gina Carano, who plays Cara Dune, was coy about some of the casting and character rumors for inclusion in season two. ...

LATEST STAR WARS ANIMATED SERIES - THE BAD BATCH - OFFICIALLY ANNOUNCED

The next entry from Lucasfilm Animation was announced Monday afternoon. The folks who brought you The Clone Wars (2008-14, 2020) and Star Wars: Rebels (2014-18) have been hard at work on the next animated series from the saga, which will be The Bad Batch. Read the official announcement from Starwars.com here . The show will debut on Disney+ in 2021. For those unfamiliar, the Bad Batch are a group of four (some would say five, more on that in a moment) misfit clonetroopers. Much like many super hero ensembles, they all have differing and complementary abilities and work completely as a team. Hunter, Wrecker, Crosshair and Tech make up the group, recruited by Commander Cody for the assault on Anaxes, a world controlled by Separatist general Trench, an arch-enemy of Anakin Skywalker. Hunter has a real Rambo vibe about him, with his unruly hair and red headband. Wrecker has been a fan favorite. He's a brute who is afraid of heights but unafraid of smashing battle droids to...

BOOK REVIEW: THE ART OF STAR WARS: REBELS

BOOK REVIEW: THE ART OF STAR WARS: REBEL Star Wars publishing has  decades-long tradition of Art Of books that cover the films and other projects within the franchise. These books are a treasure trove of insight, background and artwork associated with the 11 Star Wars films as well as animated series, video games and other projects. Monday, the latest entry arrived at my doorstep, the Art of Star Wars Rebels, written by prolific Star Wars author Daniel Wallace, featuring a foreward by show-runner Dave Filoni. The book is published by Dark Horse, the former owner of the Star Wars comics license. Last year, Dark Horse published the Art of Jedi Fallen Order, the most recent Star Wars video game, published by EA to critical and economic success. The style of the Art of Jedi Fallen Order is followed closely by the Art of Star Wars Rebels. The books are the exact same height, which makes for nice placement on a bookshelf, a nice touch for reference book collectors like me. All ...

5 Star Wars Stories I'd Like To See Get Told

I don't know about the rest of you, but I am still dancing on the high of the Clone Wars finale that came out Monday morning. Dave Filoni and his crew pulled it off again with this epic final season of the groundbreaking show that began 12 years ago. The final episode, "Victory and Death" brought the tale of the Clone Wars, the objects of fans', at first, curiosity, and later, obsession, to a close. The "Siege of Mandalore" arc was brilliantly woven into the the same time frame as Revenge of the Sith, and concludes a story that has been missing for all of us since the series was initially canceled by Disney in 2013. My thoughts naturally turned to stories that have yet to be told in an official, new canon medium. I drew up a top 5 list - because of course, what's the point of an online blog if not for speculative lists? As I get started on my list, I am very mindful of the fact that an Obi-Wan TV series for Disney+ has been officially announced . B...

Rebels Repercussions

The season 2 finale of Star Wars Rebels was some of the best Star Wars we’ve gotten ever. Bold statement I know, but it’s true in my opinion. As soon as it was over, I needed to write about it; I needed to talk about it with anyone who was willing to discuss it. There’s so much to talk about! Twitter feeds blew up. Facebook posts on the finale dominated my Facebook page. I wanted to write about it, but I knew that it needed multiple viewings and notes needed to be taken. There were just too many thoughts going through my head as I watched. So here are some of the thoughts I jotted down while watching. Enough talk let’s get on with.      Okay so my first thought is how much this episode of Star Wars Rebels mirrored not only Star Wars : Episode V The Empire Strikes Back ,  as Dave Filoni has said at the Season 2 Finale Red Carpet, that this is “ The Empire Strikes Back of our story so far”, (what better Star Wars fi...

Dave Filoni Reveals On RebelForce Radio He's Involved In A New Star Wars Animation

RebelForce Radio have released their latest podcast episode where they interview supervising director for The Clone Wars, Dave Filoni. I've just listened to the episode and although Dave Filoni couldn't say too much about where the show is going he did mention that he is involved in the development of a new Star Wars project for Lucasfilm Dave Filoni and  RebelForces Radio Animation.  He said: "At this point, I am involved in some early production discussions and exploration of what we’ll be doing with Star Wars animation in the future, which is really exciting for me and I have some friendly faces around me, of course, that are helping me on the project. So it’s a transition time, as I’ve said before, and I think it will lead to an exciting time and hopefully I’ll see things grow again." That's good news.  No! That's great news!  To me, Dave Filoni is an important part of the Star Wars workings and should always be involved with the name.  The...
