Here's a gem of a photo.  This is the creator of Star Wars, George Lucas playing the Star Wars Arcade machine.  Easily the finest arcade machine to ever exist. Game play of the original Star Wars Arcade from 1983 complete with those excellent Vector graphics. 1954 Newspaper Article On John Williams John Williams, even back in 1954 at age 22 he was making people sit up and take notice of his natural talent.  I particularly like the opening lines to the article pictured: Someday, the words "music by Johnny Williams" will flash on your local theater screen. When this statement appears you will recall when Johnny was A/1c John Williams, AF 19389341, 523 Air Force Band, March Air Force Base. The article ends with the mention that the composer is soon to be discharged, intends on pursuing his interest of music and to write for motion pictures.  I wonder how that went? John Williams, Billy Dee Williams and Harrison Ford The premiere of a certain movie took place yesterday in good old fashioned, Hollywood CA and of course the big stars were out in Force.  Speaking of the Force, that movie was of course, Star Wars:  The Rise of Skywalker and this was my favourite picture from the event.  John Williams, Billy-Dee Williams and Harrison Ford all together in one photo.  How much coolness oozes from this one picture? Yes, that is Harrison Ford on the right in the photo.  Here, he's a skilled carpenter, his profession he chose after only getting bit-parts in acting and he was self-taught too. But it was carpentry skills that got him a job with a certain director called George Lucas and a certain  movie called Star Wars.  Lucas had met Ford while Ford was installing a wooden door at Francis Ford Coppola’s house.  The rest is history. “When I was a carpenter, I once worked with this Russian lady architect. I would tell her, ‘Look, I’m terribly sorry, but I want to change that half an inch,’ and she would say ‘No limit for better.’ I think that is a worthy credo.” - Harrison Ford. George Lucas Cameo In Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom Steven Spielberg and George Lucas worked together on Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, and maybe that's why the teamed up together in this cameo as well. Both directors portrayed missionaries, portrayed in the background, who are waiting at the airport, the moment Indy tries to escape Lao Che by plane. The official Star Wars YouTube channel  are little teasers as they've gone and released a Rise of Skywalker featurette and there's one piece in that video that has taken the Internet by storm.  It's this picture (below) where we see Warwick Davis gearing up as an Ewok.  Now, this has caused speculation that the furry little Empire beaters are back in the last of the sequels and Davis will reprise his role as Wicket.  Anyway, our picture of the day is a young Warwick Davis in his original suit ready for a scene in Return of the Jedi. EVA Pod From 2001: A Space Odyssey In Star Wars The Phantom Menace Qui-Gon Jinn walks through Watto’s junk pile at Mon Espa, Tatooine.  A scene from Star Wars - Episode 1: The Phantom Menace .  It's not the most interesting photo from a movie, but wait!  What's that?  Is that a prop from another movie?  Why, yes it is.  That is a pod from Stanley Kubrick's, 2001: A Space Odyssey .   To be more specific, it's actually an EVA Pod used for extra-vehicular activity.  The Jupiter spacecraft Discovery One carries three on-board. What's strange about this prop from the 1968 sci-fi classic ending up in the 1999 Star Wars movie is Stanley Kubrick insisted that all props for 2001: A Space Odyssey be destroyed.  It's a mystery how this ended up in a movie 31 years later.  Perhaps it's not an original but a replica but its still a nice nod to Kubrick's classic. The impressive Pirate Ship on the set of The Goonies The Goonies Set With The Epic Galleon, 'The Inferno.' Today's photo of the day comes from 'The Goonies.'  The Galleon of 'One-Eyed Willy' named 'The Inferno.' There is no green screen here just a huge set and the result of many hours work from skilled men and women.  In the photo we see the ship being prepared for the amazing reveal in the movie which was shot on sound stage 16 in Burbank, California.  The second largest in Hollywood at the time.  Actual construction took two and a half months and took inspiration from the Errol Flynn classic, 'The Sea Hawk.' Director, Richard Donner decided to keep the whole thing a secret from the child actors who made up 'The Goonies.'  He wanted to capture their reaction the first time they laid eyes on the impressive ship.  What you see in the final scene is their genuine amazement at the ship.  Donner said: "The day we were go...

Cast and Crew Enjoying a meal on the set of Raiders of the Lost Ark Photo of the day is from from Raiders of the Lost Ark.  Meal time on set.   During filming in Tunisia, nearly everyone in the cast and crew got dysentery or food poisoning, except a wise Steven Spielberg. He insisted on only eating out of cans that were shipped in from England. The famous scene where Indy confronts an Egyptian swordsman was improvised as a result of the food poisoning that was hitting the cast and crew.  Harrison Ford was unable to do long shots due his dodgy belly so apparently improvised the scene rather than endure a long fight.  Indy pulls out his sidearm and shoots the swordsman.  Harrison Ford also revealed years later at a 2011 screening that he felt there had already been a lot of scenes where you see Indy disarming bad guys with his whip so Ford suggested: "Why don't we just shoot the son of a bitch?" Vintage advert for Reese's Pieces which of course featured in the movie.  M&M's turned down the opportunity of being the candy of choice.  M&M's were in the original script but the Mars company didn't want their product being associated with aliens.  They probably thought the main alien in the movie was going to be bad, evil or look at taking over the human race. Sales of Reese's Pieces outsold M&M's for the first time after the movie hit cinemas and saw a huge increase in sales by a whopping 65%. Reese's Pieces continued their association with an alien theme and in 1984 released this rather dubious commercial.  E.T. it is not.
