John Milius is our birthday-boy for today, April the 11th. Still from "Marcello, I'm so Bored." Born in 1944, in St. Louis, Missouri Milius attended the Los Angeles City College and the University of Southern California, (just like his friend George Lucas), where he won first prize with his animated short: Marcello, I'm so Bored in 1967 (again, just like his friend George Lucas did with THX 1138 E.B. ). Spielberg, Milius and Lucas Through George, John came into contact with Francis Coppola and Steven Spielberg and became entangled in their careers both as a writer and as an Executive Producer,in the years to follow. In the early seventies he established his name as a writer when he wrote the screenplays for Dirty Harry and it's successor Magnum Force .
