Get Ready Player Two.  Strap on your headset and let's return to the Oasis.  The sequel to the 2011 Ernest Cline virtual world adventure, Ready Player One is set for release on November 24th. Ernest Cline has been hard at work to bring us the sequel to Ready Player One and it was announced yesterday that the sequel will be release in November with pre-orders already available.   Expect more 1980s pop-culture references and a virtual world where all dreams are possible in Ready Player Two. Not much is known about the sequel apart from Ernest Cline confirming the main characters from Ready Player One will be returning and the book is 384 pages.  We do have the cover which doesn't give much away except for an 8-bit figure that looks like the main character from the Atari 2600 game, Pitfall.  Could we see an Indiana Jones style adventure perhaps? Ready Player One Hits The Half A Billion Mark It's safe to say Steven Spielberg's Ready Player One is a box office success.  It's now taken over $500 million at the worldwide box office.  The movie based on the excellent novel by Ernest Cline enjoyed a particularly strong showing at the Chinese box office with $61 million alone.  The domestic run (U.S) brought in a whopping $120 million so retro is definitely the in thing across the U.S.A.  The budget for Ready Player One is rumoured to be around the $175 million mark so not a bad return for Warner Bros. With the release of Ready Player One the phrase "it's not as good as the book" is something I've heard frequently in the last few weeks.  This is even before critics have seen the movie.  Anyway, that's beside the point.  What I want to point out is that it doesn't matter if the book or original content is better than the movie. You should still enjoy both. Yes, you may be a little disappointed that a certain scene that played out in your imagination thanks to the author's talented way of painting a picture in your mind has been left out of the movie version but, and this is the big question, shouldn't we be taking movies for what they are, a movie? We're getting really excited here at The Bearded Trio.  It's only a matter of weeks until Ready Player One hits the big screen.  March 29th is the big day and to celebrate we're giving away not one but two books.  Of course it's Ready Player One we're giving away, the epic novel which Steven Spielberg has graced his directing magic on.  The second book is another classic by Ernest Cline and it's called Armada.  I',m currently three quarters through this one and loving every page.  If you like The Last Starfighter and your classic sci-fi references then you will love Armada. Things are getting juicy now for Ready Player One.  Tuesday we had the new and epic poster for the movie by Paul Shipper and now we get seven new character posters thanks to Warner Bros. UK . The posters allow you to get a tantalising close up look at the main characters in the film. including Parzival, Art3mis, Aech, Sho, Daito, as well as Sorrento and Anorak.  They all have a tag line which says "An Adventure Too Big For The Real World."  Having read Ernest Cline's novel, I totally agree. The posters features one character standing as they would appear in the real world and their 'avatar' counterpart that you see in the virtual world, The Oasis.
