A few weeks ago while we were at London Film & Comic Con we were lucky enough to have a chat with Indiana Jones star, John Rhys-Davies .   You can read our quick interview here.  While we were chatting with the Welsh star he signed a photo for us to use as a prize in a competition and that is exactly what we're doing. On Friday I was fortunate enough to interview Indiana Jones star, John Rhys-Davies at Showmaster's London Film & Comic Con.  He is such a friendly and down to earth gentleman and was only too happy to answer my questions.  We only had a few minutes but I just had to get in one question on future Indiana Jones and whether he would love to see a return of Sallah in the series. I have to ask the obvious question as we are a Spielberg website, what was it like working with Mr Spielberg? I imagine it was like working with a young Mozart.  The man is a genius.  He is one of the greatest filmmakers we've ever had. He tells stories through pictures I think better than anyone has ever done. With another Indiana Jones movie on the horizon would you consider returning to the franchise? Here's a gem of a find.  It's Steven Spielberg who appears to be playing with a new camcorder.  He ends up filming the cast of Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade .  Harrison Ford, Sean Connery, Alison Doody and John Rhys-Davies are all in the shot.  I love how Steven discovers the macro setting and ends up filming close up shots of Doody, Rhys-Davies and himself. While filming a close up of Doody she asks "why are you putting it on my mouth?"  To which John Rhys-Davies chips in with his wicked sense of humour "Just checking for herpes that's all." Happy 71st Birthday to John Rhys-Davies or, as we have come to know him the best, Indy's favorite pair of helping hands: Sallah (in Raiders of the Lost Ark , Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade and Indiana Jones and the Temple of the Forbidden Eye  (at Disneyland )). However, did you know that John also provided a couple of voices for the animated series of Animaniacs , Freakazoid and Pinky and the Brain ? And, by the way, he shows no signs of slowing down at 71, for in 2015 he has attached himself to at least 9 projects, that are in various stages of completion. John Rhys-Davies has been cast in a new MTV produced series based on Terry Brooks 'Shannara' series of books. Rhys-Davies will play King Eventine, Amberle’s (Poppy Drayton) grandgfather who has ruled the Elvin kingdom of Arborlon for decades flanked by his sons Arion and Ander. Eventine has done questionable things to keep the Four Lands at peace, but when his beloved granddaughter is chosen to fulfill a dangerous destiny, his path is changed as well. John Rhys-Davies played  Gimli (AND MY AXE!) in the Lord of the Rings movies by Peter Jackson as well as Sallah in Indiana Jones so is used to big budget productions as well as a fantasy time line. We've just got back from Cardiff Comic Con here in Wales and can tell you now it's a show not to be missed.  There was so much going on it needed the two days to take it all in. Hosted at the Motorpoint Arena in the nation's capital, Showmasters, the organisers have once again delivered a perfectly organised event that ran like clockwork, full of enthusiastic, friendly and helpful staff. On entry to the hall, we were greeted by an impressive Batman car from the Adam West 60's TV series!  It may be over fifty years old but that car still looks cool. The line up was impressive too.  The star of the show had to be John Rhys-Davies from Indiana Jones and the Wing Commander games.  My wife, though, would say the star of the show for her was Kai Owen from Torchwood.  We were scheduled for a photo shoot with Rhys-Davies on the first day.  The photo shoots were on a different level to the main floor where the autographs and vendors were based.  This ...

I thought I would share this making of video from 1994.  Its the making of Wing Commander III: Heart Of The Tiger.  The cast was huge and had Mark Hamill, John Rhys-Davies, Tom Wilson and Malcolm Mcdowell to name but a few. Its a great making of documentary and shows Mark Hamill and John Rhys-Davies talking about the new filming technique at the time called green screen technology. Personally I loved this game and was amazed when I first saw the graphics and the movie segments.  The game was a pig to load though and spent many hours trying to get a boot disk with enough expanded and extended memory to get it to even load up.  Ahhh.  Great times. What a career John Rhys-Davies has had. Raiders, The Last Crusade, Lord Of The Rings, Sliders, Wing Commander and much more. I've been a huge fan of his since I first saw him as Sallah in Raiders Of The Lost Ark. So I'm really pleased (and envious) that Bryan Young had the chance to interview him back at Dragon Con in 2012. Bryan has kindly uploaded his interview to Youtube so you can listen to the whole interview below.
