The Bearded Trio

London Film & Comic Con took place over the weekend and the event organised by Showmasters was bigger than it's ever been.  Here's a day by day account of the event In anticipation of the thousands of fans and geeks that were set for a weekend of autograph hunting, photoshoots and purchasing of memorabilia the organisers decided this year's event should be spread over four floors at the Olympia in London.  Previous events had taken place at Earl's Court but sadly that venue is now closed and awaiting to be demolished. We (I was accompanied by my wife Rachel) arrived on the Friday and my first realisation was how much more there was and how getting used to the four floor layout was going to be essential.  It was confusing at first but a few reconnaissance missions on each floor and memorising the map (taking a photo of it helped) got me ready for the Saturday and Sunday when my photoshoots would be kicking off. LONDON FILM AND COMIC CON JULY 11-13TH 2014. A PERSONAL REVIEW. by Chris Hewer. This Summer's London Film & Comic Con from Showmasters was always going to be their biggest event ever given the amazing guest list that was scheduled to attend across the three day event. As a seasoned convention goer now, (having previously attended Destination Star Trek London, last Summer’s London Con plus Cardiff’s event twice now), the format was familiar enough to think I was prepared. For the most part I was - travel, accommodation and schedule. CHECK. Photo shoots paid and planned. CHECK. Autographs planned and space in my schedule to get these. CHECK. Just one or two last minute tickets needed after the online store had closed. No problem. Friday evening should be quiet enough to sort this one….. I've just got back from a busy weekend at London Film and Comic Con held at Earl's Court and organised by Showmasters.  What a weekend!  Was it worth it?  Read on to find out.  Here's an account of the three days. Friday I arrived on the Friday at around seven in the evening with five others in our group.  We were supposed to arrive much earlier but the coach trip that normally takes two and half hours took six hours due to an accident that caused major traffic.  Not a good start but can't be helped. The first thing we did after getting in to the main area of Earl's Court was head to the ticket sales.  We had booked all our tickets on line but due to a few late guest announcements we queued for forty minutes to grab a photo shoot with Star Trek's Dominic Keating. We made the most of the preview day and used most of the evening looking around and making sure we knew the lay out and the updated schedule for the weekend.  This would turn o...

LFCC London Film & Comic Con - A Review  I 've just got back from London Film & Comic Con organised by Showmasters and can tell you that the organisers put on a hell of a show. Turning up on the Saturday we were hit by a queue that trailed the length of Earls Court 2 and beyond. We were walking for fifteen minutes before we finally reached the end of the queue. Thinking we were going to be enduring the queue and the intense London heat for some time, we were pleasantly surprised when the doors were finally opened and we were let in. The queue disappeared in less than 10 minutes. Once inside we headed for the organisers desk to get our press passes but unfortunately they were already out of the badges so they signed our letters which would serve their purpose for the weekend. The crowd headed to the sales desk for photo tickets. Now this queue was big and moving a lot slower as the staff (all volunteers) had to deal with payments and enquiries. A small tab...
